Calary Art Exhibition and Harvest Festival 12th – 14th October

Preparations are well underway for a fantastic Art Exhibition at Calary Church (R755 between Roundwood and Kilmacanogue) this weekend (12th-14th Oct)

There are over 170 exhibits – Paintings, Ceramics, Stoneware and Wood turning, and the standard this year is excellent.

The Exhibition is being opened by Cllr. Shay Cullen on Friday evening at 7:30 in the beautiful setting of Calary Church. All are welcome to join us for a glass of wine and a viewing. The work exhibited is by local artists and we are delighted to showcase and offer their work for sale. Commission proceeds all goes to charity.

Exhibition continues on Saturday 11-6 and there will be a plant and country produce sale – proceeds to our child sponsorship scheme in Africa.

Open Sunday 12noon – 2.30 culminating with Calary Harvest Service on Sunday at 3 followed by a scrumptious Harvest Tea. All are welcome!

Roundwood Notes week 7th October 2018

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

In the first competition of October Brid Clancy and Phil Power took 1st place for North/South 2nd Clare Sally and Kay Plunkett  3rd Maria Magee and Judy Skates and 4th Nancy O Brien and Catherine Halligan.  East/West winners were Paddy O Brien and Margaret Bolger 2nd Molly Byrne and Rachel Judd  3rd Teresa Leahy and Marion Davis and 4th Padraig Gleeson and Seamus Kennedy.

Friday 5th October saw Monica Brady and Kay Plunkett take 1st place for North/South 2nd Nancy O Brien and Mary Pierce and 3rd Ger Lenihan and Paddy O Brien.  Taking victory for East/West were Maria Magee and Rowena Brady  2nd Maura Gaskin and Bridie Nolan and 3rd Gertie Fee and Jane Cronin.

LUNCH CLUB

A reminder that the Active Retirement Lunch club will take place on Friday 19th October in The Coach House Roundwood at 1.30.

TRIBUTE TO TERRY

The Roundwood Active Retirement would like to pay tribute to the late Terry Kavanagh, Anne & Peter and all his staff who donated a box of vegetables every month to the Bingo. We were so grateful for his generosity & he will never be forgotten by the Active retirement bingo organisers & those who played bingo every month in Annamoe. Thank you Terry may you rest in peace.

CALARY ART EXHIBITION

Calary Church is once again holding an Art Exhibition. It will open at 7.30 pm on Friday 12 October, continue between 11 am and 6 pm on Saturday 13th and between 12 pm and 2.30 pm on Sunday 14th (after which the Harvest Service will be held). This event is kindly sponsored by Wicklow County Council Creative Ireland Programme. CALARY HARVEST SERVICE

Calary’s Harvest Thanksgiving Service will take place at 3 pm on Sunday 14 October and will be followed by Harvest Tea in the Church Room. This is always a wonderful event and we look forward to welcoming all our friends to it.

SET DANCING

Set dancing in Kavanagh’s every Thursday night from 9 until 11pm

MORNING BADMINTON

Morning badminton has resumed on Tuesday morning from 9.30pm in Aras an Tochar.  All are welcome.

BINGO

Monday night Bingo in The Coach House, Roundwood Starting at 8:30pm with Cash prizes. A fun night out every Monday.

CAR BOOT SALE

The monthly car boot sale will take place in Roundwood Parish Centre on next Sunday 13th October from 12 noon to 4pm.  It is proposed to have our  November car boot sales on the second Sunday of the month on the 10th November.

 

MATHS LESSONS

Rebecca Delamere will be teaching group Maths lessons on a weekly basis in Roundwood for first year students.  Class sizes will be very small.  These lessons provide support for students who may be struggling with Maths or students who are aiming for high grades and also prepare students for their Maths exams. To reserve a space or for further information, please contact Rebecca on 086 0650129 or rebeccadelameremathslessons@outlook.ie.

MUSIC WEEKEND IN DONEGAL

There will be a music weekend in Donegal from the 2nd to the 4th November  This will be a three day coach tour at a price of €289 per person sharing.  The price includes the bus from Roundwood to Donegal and back to Roundwood, two nights dinner, bed and breadfast in 4 star Clonee Hotel, Letterkenny with music nightly with Lisa McHugh, Derek Ryan and Gerry Guthrie.  A depost of €100 is required before the 25th September.  Names to Susan at 087 6273032 and remainder of money to be paid before 15th October.  The bus will leave at 8.30a.m from Roundwood.

 

ROUNDWOOD WHIZZERS

Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action meeting at 7pm every Wednesday at the Coach House car park.  All welcome to walk at your own pace for approximately one hour.

ANGEL HEALING

Angel Healing and Angelic Guidance is back tomorrow evening Monday the 3rd of September in the Parish Hall Roundwood at 7.30 sharp. So if you would enjoy an evening of peace relaxation and hands on energy healing join us for a wonderful new experience.

Next Roundwood Parish Hall Dance Friday 26th October with music by Jimmy Hogan.

WHIST

The next Whist is this Wednesday 10th October in The Parish Centre, Roundwood.

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no jackpot winner in last weeks draw.  The numbers drawn were 7, 11,15 & 20. There were nine match three winners Gerry Ellis, John Cullen, Tom Brady, Pat Fizpatrick, Kirsten Lynch, Chris &Vin, Sara Byrne, Dawn Doyle & Carmel Fanning Next weeks jackpot will be €21,100 The lotto celebrates 25 years in existence this year and to celebrate this there will be a €3,000 jackpot for match three win or share on Sunday the 14th October.

CEILI DANCING LESSONS

Adult ceili dancing classes are held every Wednesday night in the parish hall from 8 to 9pm. Learn to solo dance and also group dances under the tuition of Aoife, Cian and Eimear and have great fun learning.

AN TÓCHAR GAA

A 45 Card Game takes place every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community Centre starting at a new time of 8.30 pm for the summer months  Teas served. All are welcome.
