Roundwood & District Notices 2nd December 2019

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Get your Santa hats & jumpers ready in Roundwood and Moneystown as the fantastic new Christmas lights will be turned on in the village this Saturday. Everyone is invited to come along to make it a special community event to mark the start of the Christmas festivities. Well done to the Roundwood & District Community Council who, through grant funding from Co Wicklow Partnership and under the supervision of Robbie Power Electrical are responsible for transforming Roundwood village this Christmas. Please gather at the footpath opposite Centra after 6pm Mass (circa 6:45pm) on Saturday, 7th of December. Festive refreshments will be available afterwards in the Parish Hall. All welcome.

SALE OF WORK

Many thanks to all for supporting the recent Roundwood & Moneystown Parish Sale of Work. Thanks to all the local businesses who donated prizes or cash donations to the Grand Raffle. Small raffles were won by John Malone – meat voucher, Ayshea Nolan – toy voucher, Noel Kavanagh – ham  voucher, Aidan Brosnan – biscuit cake and Monica Brady Guessed the Weight of the Cake correctly 10lb 9oz. The winner of the fabulous Moneystown Hamper was May Kearney with Breda Synnott winning the smaller hamper. The beautiful flower arrangements were won by Gavin Merrigan, Joe Malone, Margaret Malone and Frank Fee. Winners of the Roundwood National School raffles were Kathy Kearney, Jenni Brady, Monica Brady, Philip McGillycuddy and Emer O’Gorman. Thanks to all the organisers who did a tremendous job and to all helpers who make it all happen on the day. Well done to all.

ROUNDWOOD PLOUGHING SOCIETY

Roundwood Ploughing Society is looking for information, paper clippings and photographs that anyone may have relating to The Roundwood Ploughing Society down through the years The Society need them as soon as possible for a presentation for the Historical Society early in the New Year. STORYTELLING

Story night in Annamoe Centre will take place on Friday 13th December at 8pm.  All are welcome to come along.

PROGRESSIVE 45 CARD GAME

There will be a progressive 45 card game in aid of The Roundwood & Moneystown Parish Sale of Work on Sunday the 8th of December in the Parish Hall starting 7pm Sharp.  There will be excellent prize money with a raffle and refreshments at the break, everyone is welcome

DOG TRIAL RESULTS

P Fanning 2 P Fanning 3 M Burke 4 P O’Donnell & 5 D Burchill.  The committee would like to thank all sponsor, competitors and judge, David Corrigan for making this day such a successful event.

FOLK GROUP

Roundwood Folk Group are on the look-out for a guitarist/musician to help them in the New Year with Saturday night mass.  Very flexible not every Saturday & not a big commitment but very enjoyable.  Please contact Helena on (086) 3000194 if you would like to do it.

BADMINTON

Badminton continues on a Tuesday morning from 9.30a.m.  All are welcome.

ROUNDWOOD DANCE

There will be a dance in Roundwood Parish Centre on Friday 20th December with music by The Wicklow Man.  All are welcome

SUNSHINE FITNESS

Sunshine Fitness will be starting ‘Baby and Me’, ‘Golden Oldies’ (for aged 65+) and ‘Curvy Whirlies ‘ (for plus size women) fitness classes in the parish hall from September 17th.  Please contact Caitríona on 0876035780 for more information.

WALKING GROUP

Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action meeting at 7pm this Wednesday at the Coach House car park.  All welcome to walk at your own pace for approximately one hour.

002 BRIDGE CLUB

LOTTO

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot last week.  The numbers drawn were 2, 11, 12 & 22. SET DANCING

Our weekly set dancing sessions continue in Kavanagh’s Lounge on Thursday nights.  All are always welcome – whether you have ever or never danced before  Session starts at 8.30 til 10.30 and cost is still only €5 for a goodnight of exercise.

ROUNDWOOD CANCER SUPPORT

The Roundwood Cancer Support centre is now up and running and is open in the Parish Centre on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10a.m until 1pm & they are currently looking for volunteers if you could spare some time in your week it would be greatly appreciated.  Please feel free to pop in for a chat we will be happy to help.  If anyone needs to make any enquiries outside these hours please telephone our confidential phone number 087 6062072
