Roundwood notes 22nd October 2018

MASS OF REMEMBRANCE

Our Annual Mass of Remembrance – Service of Light will take place on Saturday 3rdNovember at 6.00pm.  This Mass is for Parishioners who died between 15th September 2017 and 14th September 2018 and whose funerals took place from either Roundwood or Moneystown Church.  There is a Remembrance Mass in February 2019 for Parishioners/Former Parishioners whose funerals took place in other Parishes

 

SALE OF WORK

Roundwood and Moneystown Christmas Sale of Work will take place in An Tochar GAA Complex on Sunday December 2nd from 12 – 4pm. A great day out for all the family with something for everyone. All donations for the various stalls will be gratefully accepted and can be left with Maureen in the Parish Office between 9.30 and 1pm (Mon-Thurs)before November 29th.

 

THANK YOU

We would like to thank all those people who supported the Art Night in the Roundwood Parish Hall and in particular those who participated in the Art class. It was a very successful night and we raised in excess of €1500. We would also like to thank the local businesses who donated Raffle Prizes -Djouce Golf Club, Dunnes Stores, Supervalu, Synnott’s Butchers, The Wicklow Heather and Wicklow Tyres. A big thank you to all those who helped on the night and also Sean Kenna who provided the P.A. system and Noel Brady who provided the music. A big thank you to everyone.

 

TABLE QUIZ

A date for your diary!   Roundwood Golf Society will hold thier Annual Table Quiz Night In aid of Roundwood Senior Citizens Christmas Party which will take place in Kavanagh’s Vartry House on Friday 2nd November at 8.30 p.m.  Your support will be appreciated.  Items required for Spot Prizes/Raffle Prizes.  All donations will be gratefully accepted.

 

HALLOWEEN CANDLE LIGHT WALK

A Halloween Candlelight walk will take place on  Sunday 28th October  at the The Vartry Reservoir. Registration is at 6pm at Roundwood Soccer Grounds  10 euro per  family, refreshments available, Fancy Dress optional, All proceeds shared between Roundwood District Community Council and Roundwood AFC

 

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Taking 1st place for North/South on Monday 15th were Monica Brady and Catherine McGillycuddy, 2nd Maria Magee and Judy Skates, 3rd Ger Lenihan and Rowena Brady and 4th Kay Plunkett and Mary Pierce.     Margaret Bolger and Paddy O Brien were 1st for East/West 2nd Maura Gaskin and Margaret Byrne, 3rd Brid Clancy and Catherine Halligan and 4th Phil Power and Nancy O Brien. .

Monica Brady secured 1st place once again on Friday morning this time with regular partner June Digby, 2nd Maura Gaskin and Bridie Nolan, 3rd Noeleen Redmond and John Loscher and 4th Catherine McGillycuddy and Nancy O Brien.  Ger Lenihan and Paddy O Brien scored best for East/West  Marion Davis and Teresa Leahy were 2nd, 3rd were Liz Belton and Phil Kenna and 4th Rowena Brady and Maria Magee

 

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to all involved in the Baltynanima PURE Mile who, out of 60 entries across Co Wicklow and South Dublin, took the top prize in the 2018 PURE Mile Awards in the Brook Lodge Hotel last night. The residents did Trojan work over a three mile stretch of road including coordinated litter picks, walks and talks &researched local history – all of which is recorded on their website and compiled into a fantastic final report. New permanent interpretative signage was also erected along the route with grant aid from Creative Ireland through Wicklow County Council. Set dancing in Kavanagh’s every Thursday night from 9 until 11pm

 

MORNING BADMINTON

Morning badminton has resumed on Tuesday morning from 9.30pm.  All are welcome.

Monday night Bingo in The Coach House, Roundwood Starting at 8:30pm with Cash prizes. A fun night out every Monday.

CAR BOOT SALE

It is proposed to have our  November car boot sales on the second Sunday of the month on the 10th November.

 

ROUNDWOOD WHIZZERS

Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action meeting at 7pm every Wednesday at the Coach House car park.  All welcome to walk at your own pace for approximately one hour.

ANGEL HEALING

Angel Healing and Angelic Guidance is back tomorrow evening Monday the 3rd of September in the Parish Hall Roundwood at 7.30 sharp. So if you would enjoy an evening of peace relaxation and hands on energy healing join us for a wonderful new experience.

WHIST RESULTS

The results of the whist are as follows:- Top Score: Shay Doyle, Top Gent: Kay Plunkett; Second Gent: Ann Pierce; Second Lady: Catherine Doyle; First Half: Kitty Kennedy; Second Half: Maura McHugh; Lowest Score: tiney Shortt & Longest Sitting: Mick Whelan. Raffle prizes were won by Mick Whelan, Tiney Shortt, Mary Pierce, Jimmy Molloy & Catherine Doyle. The next Whist is this Wednesday 24th October in The Parish Centre, Roundwood.

 

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no jackpot winner in last weeks draw.  The numbers drawn were 11, 18 ,19 & 21. CEILI DANCING LESSONS

Adult ceili dancing classes are held every Wednesday night in the parish hall from 8 to 9pm. Learn to solo dance and also group dances under the tuition of Aoife, Cian and Eimear and have great fun learning.
