DIAMOND AN 002 BRIDGE CLUB.
Yes its that time of the year again and the new Bridge seasons starts once more.  Diamond Club restarts on Monday 4th September in Roundwood Community Hall  with play starting at 7.45.   Bridge in the 002 Club restarts on Friday 8th September once again in Roundwood Community Hall with play starting at 9.45am.    All Grades catered for no partner required and new members and visitors always welcome.   Any queries contact Triona 0877630968 or Gaye 0868746874.  For anyone out there who wishes to take up this wonderful game of  Bridge please contact Rory Egan   0868192765 ( a C.B.A.I qualified teacher) who will be teaching beginners   from the middle of September.

YOGA
Yoga classes will resume in Roundwood Parish Centre on Thursday 14th September 7.30P.M-9.00P.M.Classes will include Asana-Physical stretches (flexibility and strength), Pranayama-Breathing practices (energy flow) Yoga Nidra – Relaxation Meditation- Stillness Classes are open to all and cost euro 10 per class with a commitment of euro 50 due on first night.  Further information  Anne-Marie – 086 836 7578

MATHS LESSONS

MUSIC IN CALARY
The Janet Ashe Memorial Concert will be held at 8 pm on Friday 8 September in Calary Church, when Musici Ireland will play the two Brahms string sextets. Musici Ireland is a collaboration between many of Ireland’s leading musicians, who are all highly regarded soloists, chamber and orchestral musicians. Music in Calary is delighted to welcome them to perform two works which are rarely played due to their intricacy.  Tickets, which are €18 and €15 for concessions, can be booked by ringing John at (01) 2818146 or emailing derekneilson@eircom.net. As the last two concerts have been near sell outs, please book tickets even if you have to cancel them before the concert if you find you can’t make it.

Denis Healy’s Strictly for An Tóchar Fundraising campaign kicks off with a Fun Table Quiz on Friday the 8th September in Kavanagh’s Pub, starting at 8.30 sharp. Spot prizes, finger food and overall Winners Prizes. Raffle on the night. This is sure to be great fun so come along and enjoy the craic.

VARTRY WALKS
The current path development and tree care works are being carried out under the forest service neighbourwood grant scheme in conjunction with vartry waterworks and Roundwood and district community council. The tree care work is required to make some trees safe and to promote the developing understorey trees in the interest of long term woodland development.  Any queries to Paddy Purser (Forester) on 087 263 3766

2018 TOUR
A 3 star Algarve Coast & Country trip will take place on the 27th February, 2018 for seven nights which will include visits to Silves, Lagos, Sagres & Faro.  The cost will be €429 per person sharing.  This will include breakfast and dinner in the Hotel Da Aldeia, Albufeira and day excursions and a one 10kg bag.  A deposit of €200 must be paid before 1stNovember and all monies to be paid ten weeks prior to departure.  For further information you can contact 087 6273032.

MENS SHED
John Akii Bua, exotic homegrown tomatoes with brown bread, Spanish onions, a donkey and cart from a hill over Tallaght, British Queens and carrots the length of your arm from Castlegregory, carrots nearly the length of your arm from our own raised beds – these were some of the visitors to a  recent shed gathering. So please come along and join us any Tuesday from 10 onwards. John Akii Bua was not there in person but we remembered him with fondness. LOTTO
There was no jackpot winner in last weeks draw.  The numbers drawn were: 5, 11, 18 & 20-..  There were four match three winners, Kev Brady, Alfie Fanning, Martha Hill & George Byrne.  Next weeks jackpot will be €13,900

NATURE WALKS
Book a personal nature walk for yourself and your friends. You choose the theme, the date and the time (Monday to Friday in July and August subject to staff availability). Possible themes include birds, wildflowers, trees, mammals, butterfly and bug recording, geology and mining, responsible dog walking and a general nature walk (or you may have ideas of your own). The walks are suitable for adults and teenagers only and the maximum group size is 10 people. Please do not bring your dog, unless you are booked for ‘responsible dog walking’. Booking is essential; please phone 0404-45656 (Monday to Friday). These walks are free of charge but you may have to pay for car parking.

NATURE EXPLORERS
Nature Explorers is an outdoor programme organised by the Wicklow Mountains National Park Guides aimed at children aged 5 to 11 years. Each week the focus is on a different aspect of the natural world such as bugs, flowers, badgers and birds. The sessions continue every Wednesday until 23rd August (2 to 4 pm), starting from the Upper Lake car park. Most activities will take place off track, so please dress accordingly. No dogs are allowed. Note that an adult must stay with the children, and be prepared to help! Booking is essential and will be taken from 9 am one week prior to each session on 0404-45656 (Monday to Friday).This activity is free but you may have to pay for car parking.

MENS SHED
Roundwood Men’s Shed: Visitors and new members will always be welcome to join us in the shed any Tuesday from 10 onwards. If you do not have your own transport or if the family transport is not available, just let us know and we will be delighted to arrange transport to and from Knockraheen for you. We have been invited to visit Leinster House so please let us know if you would like to join us on this trip. You don’t have to be a regular at the shed to get a place on ‘the bus’. I could write about the improvements to our kitchen, the progress in the garden and our plans for next year, but why not come along and find out and see for yourself! Even though it has not been discussed or decided I guess that we will have to bake a cake or have a cake baked for us to celebrate the founding of the Roundwood Shed almost 12 months ago.

DAY TRIPS
A day trip to Johnston Castle and Wexford town will take place on the 26th August which includes scones, tea and dinner.  Leaving Roundwood Parish Hall at 9a.m.  Cost is €70 per person.  All monies to be in before 1st August.  For further information please contact Susan on 087 6273032.

SISTER MARY KILLEEN
One of the main charities that benefits from the surplus money raised at Music in Calary events is Sister Mary Killeen’s work in the Mukuru slum in Nairobi. She is currently visiting her family in Ireland and hopes to attend the morning service in Calary Church at 9.30 am on Sunday 20 August. Anyone who would like to come and meet her would be most welcome at the service. If you can’t make it, please look at the Calary Church and Music in Calary facebook pages for photographs of the event

NATURE WALKS
Book a personal nature walk for yourself and your friends. You choose the theme, the date and the time (Monday to Friday in July and August subject to staff availability). Possible themes include birds, wildflowers, trees, mammals, butterfly and bug recording, geology and mining, responsible dog walking and a general nature walk (or you may have ideas of your own). The walks are suitable for adults and teenagers only and the maximum group size is 10 people. Please do not bring your dog, unless you are booked for ‘responsible dog walking’. Booking is essential; please phone 0404-45656 (Monday to Friday). These walks are free of charge but you may have to pay for car parking.

2018 TOUR
A 3 star Algarve Coast & Country trip will take place on the 27th February, 2018 for seven nights which will include visits to Silves, Lagos, Sagres & Faro.  The cost will be €429 per person sharing.  This will include breakfast and dinnerin the Hotel Da Aldeia, Albufeira and day excursions and a one 10kg bag.  A deposit of €200 must be paid before 1st November and all monies to be paid ten weeks prior to departure. For further information you can contact 087 7627032.

NATURE EXPLORERS
Nature Explorers is an outdoor programme organised by the Wicklow Mountains National Park Guides aimed at children aged 5 to 11 years. Each week the focus is on a different aspect of the natural world such as bugs, flowers, badgers and birds. The sessions continue every Wednesday until 23rd August (2 to 4 pm), starting from the Upper Lake car park. Most activities will take place off track, so please dress accordingly. No dogs are allowed. Note that an adult must stay with the children, and be prepared to help! Booking is essential and will be taken from 9 am one week prior to each session on 0404-45656 (Monday to Friday).This activity is free but you may have to pay for car parking.

BAT WALK AND TALK
This evening starts at 7.30pm on 17th August with a talk about bats at the Wicklow Mountains National Park Education Centre on the Miner’s Road in Glendalough. Please come early if you want to get a seat as this event can be very popular. At dusk (8.30 pm), the group will head over to the Information Office to watch the bats emerge from their roost before taking a stroll through the woods with bat detectors. Please bring a torch and insect repellent (the midges can be bad). Visitors of all ages are welcome to attend either event, or both. . This is a free event but you may have to pay for car parking. BAT WALK
A bat walk will take place on Friday 18th of August on the Baltynanima Pure Mile. Please meet at the Wicklow Way junction on the Lough Dan Road at Lake Park at 8:30pm. Please bring a torch. All welcome

MENS SHED
Roundwood Men’s Shed: Our activities continue every Tuesday from 10 onwards and age, class, colour or creed will never be an issue regarding joining the group. ‘A healthy mind in a healthy body’ would be an apt motto for our SHED and the hundreds of other SHEDS throughout the country. Whatever about some of the aching ailing bodies, the storytelling, the problem solving and the near thousand years of life’s experience around the table certainly enriches the mind. DAY TRIPS

Roundwood Set Dancing continues every Thursday night from 9pm til 11pm in Kavanagh’s Lounge, Roundwood.  Music this month with The O’Kane family. Admission remains at €5.  Beginners are always welcome along with anyone looking for a bit of exercise and a fun night out.

Roundwood Home Producers Market is open every Sunday from 12 noon until 5 pm in The Parish Centre. Come for all your fresh bread, home baking, jams etc.  There will also be pictures, home crafts, plants and more. We look forward to seeing you all. New members always welcome
