CABARET

The Wicklow Branch of St Vincent de Paul will hold a cabaret in The Grand Hotel in Wicklow this Friday the 2ndDecember with various acts including the newly formed Wicklow Community Choir who will make their debut.  Come along and support this very worthy cause.

 

BEGINNERS LINE DANCING CLASSES

Beginners Line dancing Classes have started in Ashford with Margaret Kearns on Tuesday nights from 7pm – 8.15pm.  Great way to exercise, socialise and keep active. All Welcome. Venue: Ashford GAA Clubhouse

 

CHRISTMAS BINGO

Christmas Fun Bingo will take place on in the Annamoe Centre on Sunday 11th December from 3pm.  Family members and friends are more than welcome to attend.  €5 per book and great raffle prizes.  Come along and enjoy

CHRISTMAS PROGRESSIVE 45 CARD GAME.

Our annual Christmas progressive 45 card game in aid of parish funds will take place on Sunday 4th Dec at 7.30pm in the Roundwood Parish Hall. Excellent prize money, lots of festive raffle prizes and lovely refreshments at the break

 

DOG TRIAL RESULTS

The results from the recent dog trials was Open Class: 1, Billy Ryan, 2.  Billy Ryan, 3. John Brennan.  Wicklow Class: 1. Paddy Fanning, 2, Denis Birchill, 3. Joey Walsh.  Novice Class: 1. Paddy Fanning, 2. Pat Byrne & 3. A Dickson.  The committee would like to thank all of our sponsors for their kind support.

 

WHIST RESULTS

The results of the whist are as follows:- Top Score: Mary Pierce; Top Gent: Anne Gaffney; Top Lady: Maura McHugh; Second Gent: Tom McHugh; Second Lady: Ann Wolohan; First Half: Martin Byrne,  Second Half: Mary Murphy Longest Sitting: Richie Cullen;  & Lowest Score: Kitty Kennedy;.  Raffle Prizes were won by Margaret Kennedy, Anne Gaffney, Tiney Shortt & Maura McHugh.  Next whist will be on Wednesday 7th December in The Parish Centre.

 

JUVENILE HANDBALL TRAINING

BIATHLON

Learn traditional Irish music and dance with an award-winning Comhaltas branch (guitar, fiddle, flute, tin whistle and grúpa ceoil). Classes are held at 7 pm on Tuesday nights in St. Laurence O’Toole N.S., Roundwood – the first term is from September to January while the second term is from January to May. 002 BRIDGE CLUB.

North South winners on Friday 25th were Rowena Brady and Judy Skates, 2nd Jim McNamara and Seamus Kennedy and 3rd Monica Brady and June Digby.    1st place for East/West were Noeleen Redmond and Margaret Bolger, 2nd Bridie nolan and Maura Gaskin and 3rd Gertie Fee and Jane Cronin

 

LOTTO RESULTS

There was yet again no jackpot winner in last weeks lotto draw.  The numbers drawn were 3, 24, 25 & 29.  There were two match three winners, John O’Connor & Keith Murphy.  Next weeks jackpot €19,400.

 

GET WALKING

Get Roundwood Walking continues every week meeting at Aras an Tochar at 7pm on Wednesdays. A Saturday walk is arranged for the 26th of November starting from Aras an Tochar at 9:45am. All welcome to join in & walk at your own pace. Anyone interested in training to become a walk leader should give their names in at one of the walk events please as the training sessions will be confirmed shortly.

Why not take 2 hours out of your week just for you and join us on a Monday evening at 7.30 in the Parish Hall, Roundwood.  Here you will be part of a group who know that looking after their well being is so important.  You will learn how to meditate and be still. Thanks to everyone who volunteered to adopt a spot. It can be anything from keeping a stretch of road litter free to establishing flower beds – but every single bit helps. There are various categories in the Tidy Towns competition including Built Environment and Streetscape, Landscaping and Open Spaces, Wildlife, Habitats and Natural Amenities, Sustainable Waste and Resource Management, Tidiness and Litter Control, Residential Streets & Housing Areas and Approach Roads, Streets & Lanes so if you have any ideas of ways we can improve our score in these areas please do get in contact by emailing info@roundwood.ie or calling 087 2551579

 

MATHS GRINDS

Rebecca Delamere will be teaching group Maths lessons on a weekly basis in the Parish Hall in Roundwood for secondary school students.  Class sizes will be very small and there will be classes at different levels.  These lessons provide support for students who may be struggling with Maths in school, support for students who are aiming for high grades and also prepare students for their Maths exams.  To reserve a space of for further information, please contact Rebecca on 086 0650129 or rebeccadelameremathslessons@outlook.ie.

All are welcome to these lessons.Newcomers always welcome and great way to meet some locals.  Cost for night of dancing and entertainment is still only €5.

Seamus Kennedy continued his winning streak on Friday 18th November by taking 1st place for North/South with his partner Triona Woodroofe, 2nd Rowena Brady and Judy Skates, 3rd Catherine McGillycuddy and Nancy O Brien.  East/West winners were once again Paddy O Brien and Ger Lenihan 2nd Gayle Weldon and Alice Chadwick and 3rd Margaret Bolger and Noeleen Redmond.

HISTORICAL CHRISTMAS DINNER

This years Roundwood Historical & Folklore Society’s Christmas Dinner will be held on Friday, December 9th in the main dining room at the Roundwood Inn.  Dinner will be served at 20.00 and we plan to meet for a pre-dinner drink in the bar at 19.30.  A full three course festive food extravaganza is promised and all for only €35 per head – excluding drinks. We look forward to seeing you there – partners welcome.  RSVP to David Menzies before Friday, November 18th – at 012819482 or 087 8363181 or on email at menzies.david@gmail.com.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL AGM

The Roundwood and District Community Council AGM will take place at 8pm in Roundwood Parish Hall on the 22th of November. Local political representatives and Gardaí will be in attendance. Representatives from all organisations in Roundwood and Moneystown area are encouraged to attend as are individuals. Why not come along to see what is going on.
