Roundwood Festival Raffle & Ball Race

The Roundwood Festival takes place this August Bank holiday weekend. The emphasis is on a fun filled family and community orientated weekend. The organising committee’s aim is to just cover its costs so events and activities organised will not break the bank! The group are very grateful to all the local businesses that generously sponsor the raffle prizes every year. This raffle and the Down Hill Ball race basically fund the majority of the festival events and expenses including insurance, room and equipment hire, etc. So if you are asked to buy some tickets or a ball for the ball race in the coming days please give generously. There are literally so many prizes they wouldn’t all fit on the tickets – see the full list of prizes below.

Other businesses in the area give financial donations or sponsor prizes for the events such as the canoe race, Fun Family Challenge, etc. So this is a real case of our community supporting each other. So please look out for the raffle tickets & the ball sponsor sheets and keep supporting all our local businesses by way of thanks for their generous and continuous support of the Roundwood Festival!

Roundwood Festival Scarecrow Competition

Don’t forget to start working on your scarecrows! If you need straw for your masterpiece please call John on 086 8225705. Then erect your scarecrow inside the fence of the field opposite Centra on Roundwood Street Festival Day (August 4th). Judging takes place on the day & the winners will be announced that evening. Two Prizes – the Best Scarecrow & the Most Topical!

Roundwood Festival Fun Family Challenge

It’s time to start pulling together your team of 4 for the fun family challenge taking place in Áras an Tochar on Thursday August 1st at 6.30pm. A  team should consists of at least 1 adult & 3 kids (aged 8 or over) or 2 adults & 2 kids. What family will take home the coveted Fun Family Challenge Trophy this year? Will it be taken to distant shores or stay closer to home? Many thanks to Johnny & all at Roundwood Pharmacy who are kindly sponsoring the prizes this year.

After the Family Challenge  there’s set dancing with Sheila and friends in Kavanagh’s Vartry House from 8:30pm with live music. Beginners are most welcome as all the dances are called out so no excuses!
