Roundwood Notes Week 14th October 2018

MASS OF REMEMBRANCE

Our Annual Mass of Remembrance – Service of Light will take place on Saturday 3rd November at 6.00pm.  This Mass is for Parishioners who died between 15th September 2017 and 14th September 2018 and whose funerals took place from either Roundwood or Moneystown Church.  There is a Remembrance Mass in February 2019 for Parishioners/Former Parishioners whose funerals took place in other Parishes

 

HALLOWEEN CANDLE LIGHT WALK

A Halloween Candlelight walk will take place on  Sunday 28th October  at the The Vartry Reservoir. Registration is at 6pm at Roundwood Soccer Grounds  10 euro per  family, refreshments available, Fancy Dress optional, All proceeds shared between Roundwood District Community Council and Roundwood AFC

 

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Nancy O Brien  and Monica Brady took 1st place for North/South on Monday 8th October, 2nd Marian Davis and Teresa Leahy, 3rd Maria Magee and Judy Skates and 4th Rachel Judd and Molly Byrne.   1st for East/West were Brid Clancy and Bridie Nolan, 2nd Margaret Bolger and Ger Lenihan   3rd Rowena Brady and Paddy O Brien and 4th Clare Sally and Mary Pierce.

riday 12th October saw Noeleen Redmond and Margaret take 1st place for North/South, 2nd Catherine McGillycuddy and Nancy O Brien and 3rd Mary Pierce and Maura Gaskin.   1st for East/West were Kay Plunkett and Teresa Leahy, 2nd Rowena Brady and Maria Magee and 3rd Ger Lenihan and Paddy O Brien.

 

PROGRESSIVE 45

Progressive 45 Card Game Sunday 21st October at 7pm in Roundwood Parish Hall, everyone welcome, excellent cash prizes with raffle and refreshments at the interval.

 

LUNCH CLUB

A reminder that the Active Retirement Lunch club will take place on Friday 19th October in The Coach House Roundwood at 1.30.

 

SET DANCING

Set dancing in Kavanagh’s every Thursday night from 9 until 11pm

 

MORNING BADMINTON

Morning badminton has resumed on Tuesday morning from 9.30pm.  All are welcome.

Monday night Bingo in The Coach House, Roundwood Starting at 8:30pm withCash prizes. A fun night out every Monday.

CAR BOOT SALE

It is proposed to have our  November car boot sales on the second Sunday of the month on the 10th November.

 

ROUNDWOOD WHIZZERS

Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action meeting at 7pm every Wednesday at the Coach House car park.  All welcome to walk at your own pace for approximately one hour.

ANGEL HEALING

Angel Healing and Angelic Guidance is back tomorrow evening Monday the 3rd of September in the Parish Hall Roundwood at 7.30 sharp. So if you would enjoy an evening of peace relaxation and hands on energy healing join us for a wonderful new experience.

WHIST RESULTS

The results of the whist are as follows:- Top Score: Shay Doyle, Top Gent: Kay Plunkett; Second Gent: Ann Pierce; Second Lady: Catherine Doyle; First Half: Kitty Kennedy; Second Half: Maura McHugh; Lowest Score: tiney Shortt & Longest Sitting: Mick Whelan. Raffle prizes were won by Mick Whelan, Tiney Shortt, Mary Pierce, Jimmy Molloy & Catherine Doyle. The next Whist is this Wednesday 24th October in The Parish Centre, Roundwood.

 

ROUNDWOOD HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The next talk in the Roundwood Historical Society’s 2018 Series will take place on Monday 22nd October 2018 at 8pm in Kavanagh’s (Vartry House). The talk is actually a documentary called The Flying Films – A Day to Remember. This documentary is a tribute and a look behind the scenes with the people who were involved in the making of the Flying Films – The Blue Max, Darling Lilli, Zeppelin and Von Richthofen and Brown. These were all filmed in the skies over Wicklow from 1965 to 1970 and featured Irish Air Corps pilots and ground crew using replica WW1 planes. Many people in the area will remember watching these aircraft flying over Calary, The Sugar Loaf, Kilpedder and Wicklow Harbour during the late 1960’s. We look forward to seeing you on Monday 22ndOctober at 8pm. The entrance fee for members is €3 and for non-members is €5 – payable at the door.

 

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no jackpot winner in last weeks draw.  The numbers drawn were 11, 14,19 & 21. There were eight match three winners, Auinash Balaghee, Ticket sold in Centra, R & L Carthy, Imelda Byrne, Martin Carey, D Keeley, Paul Coruntu & M Kenny Next weeks jackpot will be €21,400

CEILI DANCING LESSONS

Adult ceili dancing classes are held every Wednesday night in the parish hall from 8 to 9pm. Learn to solo dance and also group dances under the tuition of Aoife, Cian and Eimear and have great fun learning.
