CANCER RESEARCH NIGHT

There will be a night of music, song and dancing in The Grand Hotel on Saturday 17th August in aid of the Cancer Clinical Research Trust which is headed by Professor Crowne.  The night will kick off with a cabaret at 8.30pm and dancing with Sean Olohan and his band will take place from approximately 10pm until late.  Tickets are only €10 each and can be bought from The Grand Hotel, Wicklow, Track One, Main Street, Wicklow, Justines, Roundwood and Mary Margaret Molloy 086 8287858.  Please come along and support this very worthy cause while having a very enjoyable night.

 

HIDDEN HISTORY WALK IN THE WICKLOW UPLANDS

As part of Heritage Week 2013, Roundwood & Dictrict Historical & Folklore Society in co-operation with Wicklow Uplands Council are hosting a guided Hidden History Walk in the Wicklow Uplands. Starting at Castlekevin, travelling through the village of Annamoe, then traversing the old road to Derralossary, the walk will cover historical aspects & points of interest along the route. The walk will be led by local history experts and segments of the walk will access land not usually open to the public. The meeting point will be at the Parish Centre, Roundwood, Co Wicklow, and from there you will be transferred by minibus to Castlekevin to return on foot via Annamoe and Derralossary Church. ELLIE BRADY MEMORIAL SET DANCE NIGHT

A Date for your Diary, The Annual Ellie Brady Memorial Set Dance in aid of Cancer Research will take place in Aras an Tóchar on Friday August 23rd from 9.30 pm – 1 am. All are invited to come for an evening of fun and dance. For more info contact Richie 086 0566011

 

SCHOOL REUNION

RathdrumVocationalSchool (Rathdrum Tech) are holding their school reunion, for students/teachers, and anyone who attended the school between September 1972- June 1976. TOURS 2013

There will be a weekend away in Killarney the October weekend, music and sightseeing included for three nights.  Leaving on Friday 25th October. For further information on any of the trips please contact 0404 45276 after 8pm.

 

PERSONAL ALARMS

The Roundwood & District Community Council is now registered to administer the Seniors Alert Scheme. The Scheme aims to encourage community support for vulnerable people in our communities, provides grant assistance towards the purchase and installation of monitored personal alarms to enable older persons to continue to live securely in their homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind.   If you know someone who would benefit from one of these alarms or would like further information please contact Monica 086 8055040 or Betty 01 2818703.

 

ROUNDWOOD DANCE

In Roundwood Parish Centre on 16th August the Wicklow Man will return, all dances from 9.30 p.m. ‘til 12. Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing, jiving, etc.

 

 MONEYSTOWN DANCE

The Wicklow man will return on 9th August and John Flood will play on Friday September 13th.

 

WHIST

The next whist will be on Wednesday 7th August in The Parish Centre.

 

 45 CARD DRIVE every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community Centre starting at 8.45pm.  Teas served.  All are welcome.

 

HOME PRODUCERS MARKET

Roundwood Home Producers Market reopened on Sundays from 12 – 5pm. Come and enjoy our home baking, crafts, jams, marmalades, plants, etc. New Members welcome

 

SET DANCING

Our weekly sessions will continue on Thursday nights in Kavanagh’s Lounge from 9pm til 11am with a lesson from 8.30pm for any newbie’s who would like to ‘give it a go’. Music this month will be supplied by Michael & Brian. For anyone who has been thinking about trying it or for others, who would like to return to it, now is the time – everyone is always welcome and we look forward to seeing you on the dance floor.
