It was smiles all around during the week as Avondale Game Club representatives handed over cheques of 750 euro each to Principal of Roundwood National School, Jane O’Brien with school children Emma and Ciara Fegan, and to members of the Roundwood Active Retirement Group, including Betty Cullen and Mollie Byrne in Kavanagh’s Vartry House, Roundwood.

This was the result of the Club’s Annual BBQ which took place in terrific sunshine in the Vartry House in early July and lasted into the wee hours ending with a session with local band, the Roamin’ Cadillacs! Traditional musicians played in the Beer Garden while locals, young and old, and visitors sampled the game delights from the BBQ and expert hands of Laragh born chef, Eamonn Stakem. 

The entertainment and food throughout the evening was just super. Avonmore Game Club wishes to thank everybody who helped out in making the evening such a great success and to all the people who attended. Roll on BBQ 2014!
