Roundwood Community Biodiversity Plan Launch

Thanks to everyone who came to the recent launch of the Roundwood Community Biodiversity Plan. It was heartening to see such a big crowd and we look forward to putting the plan into action!

Thanks to the author of the plan, local ecologist Faith Wilson for the huge amount of work that went into the document and her inspiring talk on the launch night. Brian Dunne, Deputy Manager of ACRES Leinster gave a fantastic presentation on the positive work currently under way on farms in the area through the ACRES scheme.

The plan would never have came to pass without the work on the Roundwood Tidy Towns Biodiversity Group which is a subgroup of the Roundwood & District Community Council. Funding for the development of the plan was secured through a successful grant application to the Community Foundation of Ireland.

The Roundwood Community & beyond are most definitely doing their bit to halt the loss of biodiversity in the area. The plan is available on the roundwood.ie website. Click link Roundwood Village BAP

There are possible actions for everyone – if your garden is the size of a postage stamp or you own a farm & everything in between. If you would like to get working on your own patch or get involved in helping the Biodiversity Group putting the plan into action please email info@roundwood.ie
