Aghowle – Where The Divil Ate The Tinker – local history book published

A newly published book by Margaret Connolly has just hit the shelves. It is the history of the townland of Aghowle (which lies between Ashford and Moneystown at the foot of Carrick Mountain) and is where Margaret grew up during the 1960’s and 1970’s. The book tells the history of the townland and surrounding areas and records the story of the close- knit farming community that lived in the townland for centuries right up until the early 1970’s. This book will appeal to lovers of social history  or to those with any connection to the Roundwood, Moneystown, Asdford, Rathdrum or  Glenealy areas.

The book will be officially launched shortly – date to be announced, but is available now from Ann Duffy’s Florist shop in Newtownmountkennedy, Bridge Street Books in Wicklow town and Avondale Sports in Rathdrum. Some new outlets are due to be added in the coming weeks. It costs just €18 for a whooping 370 pages!
