UPPER VARTRY RESERVOIR WALK

The walk from the Reservoir gates on the Newtown Road to the Ford Road on the east side of the Upper Vartry Reservoir is now open (roughly A to B on the map below). It was a very busy spot last weekend with great views and reviews!  A fantastic job, a wonderful resource for the area – congratulations to all involved. Please park responsibly in the area.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL AGM

The AGM of the Roundwood  and District Community Council will take place on Monday 9th of November at 8pm in the Old School Roundwood. All welcome.

ANNAMOE CENTRE

The centre will be open on Saturday 7th November and 14th November if you have saleable donations you can drop them in on either days  Our Women/mens shed will be on Wednesdays from 10. 30. We have bowling, crafts etc.  On Sunday 8th November we are having a Fun Bingo from 3 o’clock the prices may not be great  but the crack will be ninety.

MONEYSTOWN DANCE

The Wicklow man will play in Moneystown Community Centre on Friday 13th  November from 9.30 till 12 midnight. Teas served refreshments, door prizes, refreshments also available. Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing jive etc

DANCE

The Roundwood Parish Hall monthly Dance will be held on Friday November 27th with dancing to Tony Davitt  from 9 p.m. till late. Teas served, refreshments also available, Raffle prizes. Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing jive.

KILMACANOGUE  HISTORY  SOCIETY

Autumn   Programme   2015. November 3rd, Glendalough Churches with Chris Corlett & December 1st,Georgian Dublin in Maps with Rob Goodbody in the Glenview  Hotel, Glen of the Downs at 8.30PM (first Tuesday of month)   Entry €3 (members €2) – all welcome

NATHAN CARTAR BUS

A bus to go to see Nathan Cartar in The Amber Springs Hotel in Gorey will leave Roundwood on  21st November at 6.30pm.  Anyone wishing to go must have purchased their own ticket as this is bus only.  To book your seat contact Susan at 0404 45276 any evening after 8pm

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no jackpot winner in last week’s draw.  The numbers drawn were 9, 25, 28 &29  There were three match three winners, B Cullen, Paul Malone & Anita Lawlor.  Next week’s jackpot will be €17,000

COMMUNITY GAMES

There will be an EGM of Roundwood Community Games on Wed 11th Nov at 8pm in An Tochair Gaa Centre. Our AGM failed to elect a new committee and we hope for a large turn out of parents to ensure the future of Community Games in the Roundwood Moneystown and Laragh areas.

AIKIDO

Is a non-competitive Japanese Martial Art for Flexibility, Coordination, Relaxation and Self-Defence. Masatomi Ikeda Shihan’s approach to teaching now inMoneystown National School on Mondays, 19:30-20:45 (adults/youths – general class) & Saturdays, 11:30-12:30 (children) ,12.30-13.45 (Adults) and in Roundwood National School on Thursdays, 19:30-20:45 (adults/youths – general class, beginners welcome)  The cost for Adults: €8 Unwaged, students, children: €5 / class. MASS OF REMEMBRANCE

Our Annual Mass of Remembrance – Service of Light will be on Saturday 7th November at 6.30pm in Roundwood Church.  This Mass is for Parishioners who died between 15th September 2014 and 14th September 2015 and whose funerals took place from either Roundwood or Moneystown Church.  There is a Remembrance Mass in March 2016 for Parishioners/Former Parishioners whose funerals took place in other Parishes

PILGRIMAGE TO MEDJUGORJE

October 5th 2016 for a week. Cost €645.00 per person sharing. The results of the whist are as follows:- Top Score: Ann Wolohan, Top Gent: Martin Byrne, Second Gent: Pat Fisher; Top Lady: Monica Brady, Second Lady: Mary Pierce, First Half: Ritchie Cullen, Second Half: Kay Plunkett, Lowest Score: Tom McHugh & Longest Sitting: Mary Cullen.  Raffle prizes were won by Ann Wolohan, Martin Byrne, Molly Byrne, Lucy Molloy & Mary Cullen. Next whist will be on tonight, Wednesday 11th November

DIAMOND  BRIDGE CLUB

The two Margaret Byrnes took 1st place for North/South on Monday 26th October, Phil Power and Monica Brady were 2nd, Molly Byrne and Rachel Judd were 3rd and Catherine McGillycuddy and Nancy O Brien were 4th.   East/West 1st place was won by Paddy O Brien and Ger Lenihan, Catherine Halligan and Bridie Nolan were 2nd, Teresa Leahy and Marian Davis were 3rd and Brid Clancy and Gertie Fee were 4th.

002 BRIDGE CLUB

Seamus Kennedy and Jim McNamara spookily played their cards right to win our Halloween competition on Friday 30th, Ann Kennedy and Triona Woodroofe were 2nd, Catherine McGillycuddy and Nancy O’Brien were 3rd and June Digby and Marian Davis were 4th.  1st for East/West were Bridie Nolan and Maura Gaskin, 2nd Kay Plunkett and Judy Skates and joint 3rd/4th were Liz Belton, Philomena Kenna, Alice Chadwick and Gayle Weldon

MATHS LESSONS

Rebecca Delamere will be teaching group Maths lessons on a weekly basis in the Parish Hall in Roundwood for secondary school students.  Class sizes will be very small and there will be classes at different levels.  These lessons provide support for students who may be struggling with Maths in school, support for students who are aiming for high grades and also prepare students for their Maths exams.  If you would like any more information please contact Rebecca on 086 0650129 or rebeccadelameremathslessons@outlook.ie

CAR BOOT SALE

The next Parish Hall Car Boot Sale will be held on Sunday November 8th for Information and Booking please contact us by e-mailingtheroundwoodparishhall@gmail.com or by ringing Ben 087-9627527 or Bernie on 087-3932730  Indoor and outdoor spaces available, Booking is essential as limited to 22 tables indoor. PRAYER MEETING

Prayer Meeting is held every fortnight in the Parish Centre in Roundwood at 7.30 pm  Dates for November are 10th of November & 24th of November All very welcome to come along.  For  more information contact Mary King on 087 2185067.

ZUMBA CLASSES

Zumba classes are now being held in the Parish Hall on Wednesday nights at 8pm. Come along and Nicola Ellard will teach you this fun way of keeping fit.
