Roundwood Notes 13th of August

ROUNDWOOD TWIN TOWN VISIT

Roundwood is proud to host 34 musicians, singers and dancers from our twin village Spezet in Brittany from the 16th to the 23rd of August. The group is members of the award-winning Bagad Osismi Speied and are staying with local families in the area. The Roundwood and District Community Council have pulled out all the stops to ensure the group have a week to remember in the Garden County as they have organised the Bagad to perform in various locations during their week’s stay. The fun begins on Saturday 16th at 8pm with the official welcome night in Roundwood’s Coach House to which the whole community are invited. Our visitors will join with local band ‘Coddle’ to entertain the crowd on the night.  The Spezet group will see some of the tourist highlights of Wicklow as they perform across the county during their stay, including the Hollywood Fair, Bray Promenade, Wicklow’s Historic Gaol and Glendalough.  The local pubs will also host members of the group as they join in with the Roundwood Sessions on Sunday the 17th in Byrne and Woods and step out with the set dancers in Kavanagh’s Vartry House on Thursday the 21st at 8:30pm. The grand finale will take place in the form of a community BBQ and session with local musicians in Roundwood Parish Hall on Friday 22nd at 6:30pm. All members of the community are welcome to attend and if you can play an instrument or do a few steps you will be especially welcome. So please give our visitors a great welcome should you meet them about the town and come out and support their performances in Roundwood and beyond.
