WARMER HOME SCHEME

Better Energy Warmer Homes scheme provides free energy efficiency works for home owners on a low income living in Roundwood and in other areas in Co. Wicklow. It’s easy to apply and services include attic insulation, draught-proofing, lagging jackets, CFL bulbs, cavity wall insulation and energy saving advice. To qualify for the scheme you must own and live in your own home in the Bray or Co. Wicklow area and you must also be in receipt of one of the following, Fuel Allowance or Family Income Supplement or Job Seekers Allowance for more than six months and have a child aged under seven years. SYMPATHY

Roundwood Ploughing Society would like to extend their sincere sympathy to the Power Family on the recent death of Robert Power. Robert was an active and valued member of the society for many years and will be greatly missed.  May he rest in peace.

BLESSING OF GRAVES

The blessing of the graves in Glendalough will take place on Friday 9th May at 8pm and in Brockagh on Friday 16th May at 8pm.  There will be mass on both occasions in St. Kevin’s Church before the blessings at 7pm.

LUNCH CLUB

A reminder that the Active Retirement Lunch club will take place on Friday 25thApril in Lynham’s, Laragh at 1.30pm.

FERN ART

HOME PRODUCERS MARKET

Roundwood Home Producers Market has re-opened in Roundwood Parish Hall on Sundays from 12noon – 5p.m every Sunday. Come for your home baking, jams, crafts, vegetables, plants, etc. New members always welcome.

ANGEL HEALING

PINHOLE CAMERA ANNIVERSARY & WORKSHOP

Calary Parish is launching a celebration of the anniversary of the Pinhole Camera, which was invented by William Henry Fox Talbot in 1834. On International Pinhole Camera Day, which is Sunday 27 April, everyone is invited to Calary Church at 11 am to celebrate this event and also to take part in a Pinhole Camera workshop to encourage people to get involved in making their own pinhole camera and taking stunning photogenic drawing process images of their own. These will be exhibited, along with other photographic paraphernalia, during Heritage Week (23 to 31 August) in Calary Church

COMMUNITY GAMES

Track and Field: Calling all children between the ages of five and seventeen who are interested in representing the Roundwood, Moneystown, Laragh area in the Co, finals of track and field is asked to please come to Áras an Tochar on Wednesday May 7th at 5.45 for our local run-offs. There are many different events for all ages from running to jumping to ball throw and javelin. You do not need to be a member of an athletic club to take part. If you are interested please contact Ann Marah or Elizabeth Belton.  Swimming:  We also hope to enter in the Co finals of the swimming competition. Again we will have swim-offs for anybody interested in taking part. Please contact any member of the Community Games Committee for more information.

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no winner of last week’s jackpot. The numbers drawn were 8, 13, 17 & 30. There were three match three winners, Tanya Cahill, Tony Pierce & A Kenny. Next week’s jackpot will be €5,900.

BADMINTON

Morning Badminton continues every Tuesday from 9.30 until 11am for anyone who would like to join us. Beginners are always welcome as are improvers and those who just want to play! Congratulations to all those who took part in the Wicklow championships, the finals of which were held last Sat night in Roundwood and the triumphant morning players were Marion, Gill, Mary, Paddy and Ger. Hard to believe 2 years ago some of these had never stood on a badminton court let alone reach a final so well done to all of you

WHIST

PILATES

Anne Sexton PilatesClass on Thursdays at 12 noon – Mobility and Posture for the Older Adult. Call in and have a chat with Anne and try it out! Also, Boxercise – new class on a Friday night at 8 pm. €10 for adult, €6 for students and unwaged.

SET DANCING

Set dancing in Kavanagh’s lounge every Thursday night with music this week by CDs and by Michael and Brian for the remainder of the month. Lessons before hand at 8.30 with session from 9pm until 11. Love if you could join us on the dance floor for a night of fun and lively banter.

GETAWAYS

There will be two day trips, a tour of Semple Stadium and Holy cross Abbey on 3rdMay leaving Roundwood at 8a.m. at a cost of €65 per person and a trip to Suir Valley railway line between Waterford and Dungarvan and Garden Bord Bia., The Arboretum which has lovely plants and shrubs which will take place on Saturday 5th July at a cost of €65 per person. Tea, scones and evening meal and bus included in the price, leaving at 9a.m. All money to be paid to Susan at 0404 45276 before 1st ~May.  Leaving Roundwood parish centre at 8a.m a three night trip to Iceland going on 23rdOctober. MONEYSTOWN DANCE

Tony Davitt will play in Moneystown Community Centre on Friday 9th May 9.30 till 12. Teas, door prizes, refreshments also available. Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing, jive etc.
