Roundwood & District News – 6th of March 2023

Lots of lovely crocus appearing on the grass bank up from the Roundwood Inn – well done to all involved

LOTTO  
Results of the draw held on March 5th. There was no jackpot winner. The numbers drawn were 2, 5, 6 & 30. There were six match three winners Louise Murphy, Peggy Tobin, H&A Alice, Janette McFarken, SNA Roundwood and Shauna & Denis.  Next week’s jackpot will be €28,000.

FLOWER ARRANGING DEMO

This demonstation by Sheila Cleary will take place in Calary Church room on Thursday 9th of March at 10:30am. Come along and bring a friend. Tea & coffee will be provided. Cost €5 per person.

CEILI MÓR

Ceili Mór in Roundwood parish hall on Thursday, 16th March at 9pm. Everyone invited. No need to go to Dublin for your Irish night out. Come join us for Ceili and set dancing, singing, music and lots of craic on St Patrick’s eve.

ROUNDWOOD COMMUNITY PRESCHOOL  

OPEN EVENING: I would like to invite guardians/parents to visit our beautiful setting, meet and chat with staff, and learn a little about our ethos and curriculum. We have a limited number of places available for September 2023. The Open Evening will take place at Roundwood Community Preschool, on Wednesday 8th March from 7pm to 8pm: Address; 73 Ashwood, Vartry Heights, Roundwood, Co.Wicklow. KNOCK PILGRIMAGE 

Divine Mercy Sunday. There will be a pilgrimage to Knock on Sunday 16th April 2023. Leaving Rathdrum square at 7.30am, via Moneystown, Roundwood Church at 8am. The cost is €80 pp including breakfast, dinner and bus all money to be paid by 10th April. To Book Contact Susan O’Neill at 087 627 3032.

ANNAMOE STORY NIGHT 

The next Story Night will be held upstairs in the Annamoe Centre at 8pm on Friday March 10th. All are welcome to take part or just sit in and listen. Songs, stories, poems and music, tea, biscuits and a raffle. Access is by stairs only at the moment. For further information if required call 086 8749092

Roundwood Active Retirement Bingo takes place on Sunday March 19th at 3pm in Annamoe Centre. All welcome.

COFFEE MORNING FOR TURKEY & SYRIA 

A coffee morning will be held in Calary Church Room (A98 H766) between 10.30 am and 1 pm on Saturday 25 February to raise much needed funds for the Turkey Syria Earthquake Appeal. There will also be a bake sale, jams and crafts for sale. Bring along a friend and help this cause.

PLOUGHING SOCIETY  

Roundwood Ploughing Society are holding their annual Ploughing Match on Saturday the 25th of February at 12.00 noon at Boleynass Upper, Eircode A67 WP46.  Sincere thanks to Eugene Shortt for providing the site. Conventional, Vintage, Classic Tractors and Horse Classes all catered for on Lea ground.  Please note all competitors must register by Wednesday the 22nd of February at 6pm with Brendan Power @ 087 2420204.  Spectators are always welcome, there will be a Chip Van on site. Many thanks to all our sponsors for their continued support.  

SHEEP DOG TRIALS WIN  

Roundwood Man Wins Big at Sheep Dog Trials – Congratulations to Adam Sharkey on winning the Beginners Class at the Three Provinces Nursery Final held in Co. Sligo recently. Representing Leinster, Adam and sheepdog ‘Beth’ put in a tremendous effort to emerge as winners in their class-well done Adam and Beth!

Athletics Club AGM will take place on Thursday 23rd February at 8.30 p.m. Venue: Roundwood Parish Hall.  All are welcome.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY AGM 

The Roundwood and District Historical Society would like to announce their AGM will be on the 28th February at 8pm in the Parish hall. As well as the formal proceedings of the AGM, we will be inviting past and present members to share any amusing/ memorable memories of society events. All are welcome.
