COMMUNITY GAMES

A big thank you to Paddy Halligan and his family for organizing the 45 card drive on Easter Sunday night for Community Games. We had a very enjoyable night and we made €290.  We are holding the run-offs for the athletics on Wednesday 29th of April at 6 o’clock at the GAA complex.  All children age 5 to 15 from Moneystown, Laragh and Roundwodd are welcome.  You do NOT have to be a member of an athletic club to take part in Community Games. There will be running jumping and throwing events.  Best of luck to our Under 10 boys Gaelic football team under the management of Sean Nolan in the County competition.

BLESSING OF GRAVES

The blessing of the graves in Glendalough cemetery will take place on Saturday 16th May at 8pm and in Laragh Cemetery on Saturday 23rd May at 7.45pm.

ROUNDWOOD HISTORICAL  SOCIETY

On Monday the 27th of April 2015 at 8.00 p.m. in the Old School, Roundwood, Colonel Donal O’ Carroll, former President of the Military History Society will give a talk on the Battle of Waterloo as it is the bicentennial year. We will learn about the contribution of Irish soldiers in this historic event.  The Society’s journal is on sale and we welcome new members

90th BIRTHDAY THANK YOU

ROUNDWOOD FESTIVAL

The next meeting to help organise the Roundwood Festival 2015 which takes place from the 31st of July to the 2nd  of August will be in the Old School Roundwood at 8pm on the 28th of April. Anyone with ideas or wishing to get involved in organising the weekend’s events are welcome to come along

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no jackpot winner in last weeks draw. Numbers drawn were 5, 11, 13 & 30  There were two match three winners, R Kennedy & Sheila Donelan. Next weeks jackpot will be €8,600

KILMACANOGUE   HISTORY   SOCIETY

The  GPO – 200 years of history.  Stephen Ferguson is Assistant Secretary of An Post and curator of the GPO museum.  He has written on various aspects of Post Office history and is the author of  Business as Usual – GPO staff in 1916;  The Irish Post Box-Silent servant and Symbol of the State ; and in 2014  The GPO-200 years of history.  Stephen visited us in 2011 to speak on the Irish Post Box and subsequently was instrumental in helping us retain our unique functioning 1868 Victorian hexagonal Penfold postbox in the Rocky Valley.  Stephen’s presentation will be delivered on time at 8.30PM  on  Tuesday  5th  May in the  Glenview  Hotel,  Glen of the  Downs.  Entry €3 (€2 for members) – all welcome. DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Phil Power and Nancy O Brien took 1st place for North/South on Monday 13th April Monica Brady and Catherine McGillycuddy were 2nd, Kay Plunkett and Margaret Byrne were 3rd and Mary Pierce and Clare Sally were 4th.  1st for East/West were Gertie Fee and Bridie Nolan, Brid Clancy and Catherine Halligan were 2nd, Kathy Halpin and Rowena Brady were 3rd and Pamela Byrne and Maura Gaskin were 4th.

002 BRIDGE CLUB

Ger Lenihan and Paddy O Brien continued their successful run by taking 1st place for North/South on Friday 17th April, 2nd Teresa Leahy and June Digby,Nancy O Brien and  Margaret Byrne were 3rd.  Rowena Brady and Maria Magee ran away with the play for East/West taking first place over regular winners Noeleen Redmond and Margaret Bolger whilst Bridie Nolan and Maura Gaskin were 3rd.

The personal alarm offers reassurance to allow independent living, safe in the knowledge that you can quickly be in contact with a family member or neighbour in the event of an emergency. SET DANCING

Roundwood Home Producers Market re-opened on Sunday 29th March in the Parish Hall,  Roundwood.  Times 12 noon to 5pm.  We will have home baking, jams, vegetables, crafts, plants and much more.  New members always welcome
