Safety

The following initiatives have been put in place to support community wellbeing.

Roundwood Community Text Alert Group

Roundwood and District Community Council facilitates the administration of the Text Alert Service in the Roundwood Garda District. This service is in operation since 2014 and has proven to be of great benefit. The Gardaí send out short text alerts regarding issues of importance to the community such as suspicious activities, break-ins, events likely to impact on the community, etc.

A contribution of €10.00 is requested on joining the scheme. This is necessary to cover the cost of the texts and running the scheme.

If you are interested in joining:

  1. Download this form https://www.roundwood.ie/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/TA-Sign-Up-Form.pdf
  2. Fill in your details, sign and return the form in an envelope marked “Attn: Roundwood and District Text Alert Group” to the Roundwood Lotto Box above the ATM in Centra.

Please note the €10 fee is for a single phone registration. Only your phone number will be supplied to the third-party provider (i.e. the phone service that sends the messages). Your personal information will not be shared with the Gardaí or any other source.

Personal Alarms – Senior Alert Scheme

The Scheme aims to encourage community support for vulnerable older people in our communities, providing grant assistance towards the purchase and installation of monitored personal alarms to enable older persons without sufficient means to continue to live securely in their homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind.

The Roundwood and District Community Council is registered to administer this scheme in the area. The personal alarm offers reassurance to allow independent living, safe in the knowledge that you can quickly be in contact with a family member or a neighbour in the event of an emergency.
