Roundwood Parish hall are holding their annual Bridge Night Fundraiser on Monday May 18th @ 8 pm.

ROUNDWOOD DANCE

The monthly Parish dance will takeplace on  Friday 15th May in Roundwood Parish Centre with music by The Wicklow Man.

BLESSING OF GRAVES

The blessing of the graves in Glendalough cemetery will take place on Saturday 16th May at 8pm and in Laragh Cemetery on Saturday 23rd May at 7.45pm.

Roundwood Home Producers Market re-opened on Sunday 29th March in the Parish Hall,  Roundwood.  Times 12 noon to 5pm.  We will have home baking, jams, vegetables, crafts, plants and much more.  New members always welcome

KILMACANOGUE   HISTORY   SOCIETY

The  GPO – 200 years of history.  Stephen Ferguson is Assistant Secretary of An Post and curator of the GPO museum.  He has written on various aspects of Post Office history and is the author of  Business as Usual – GPO staff in 1916;  The Irish Post Box-Silent servant and Symbol of the State ; and in 2014  The GPO-200 years of history.  Stephen visited us in 2011 to speak on the Irish Post Box and subsequently was instrumental in helping us retain our unique functioning 1868 Victorian hexagonal Penfold postbox in the Rocky Valley.  Stephen’s presentation will be delivered on time at 8.30pm  on  Tuesday  5th  May in the  Glenview  Hotel,  Glen of the  Downs.  Entry €3 (€2 for members) – all welcome.  Website:   kilmacanoguehistorysociety.com

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Monday 20th April saw Brid Clancy and Phil Power take 1st place for North/South, Kathy Halpin and Rowena Brady were 2nd and Paddy O’Brien , Pauric Gleeson, Nancy O’Brien and Bridie Nolan were joint 3rd/4th. Member please note prize giving will be on Monday 11th May.

Marian Davis and Teresa Leahy played their cards right for North/South on Friday 24th April Noeleen Redmond and Margaret Bolger were 2nd and Mary Pierce and Ethna Kane were 3rd.   East/West victors were Jim McNamara and Elizabeth Belton, 2nd Rowena Brady and Maria Magee and Rachel Judd and Molly Byrne were 3rd.  Members please note Friday 8th May is prize giving morning.

The Roundwood and District Community Council are registered to administer the senior alert scheme which provides grants to elderly people towards the provision of personal alarms. The personal alarm offers reassurance to allow independent living, safe in the knowledge that you can quickly be in contact with a family member or neighbour in the event of an emergency.
