Roundwood Notes ~ 1st of September

VARIETY A.G.M

The Roundwood Variety A.G.M. will be on Wednesday 10th September in the Old School at 8.30pm.  All are welcome to attend.  Anyone who is interested in taking part in next years production, either on stage or behind the scenes are urged to come along and learn what we are all about.

BADMINTON

Time to dust off the badminton racquets! From September badminton resumes on Monday on Wednesday nights in Áras an Tochar at 7.30pm. Looking forward to see all our members back playing and as always new members are more than welcome to come along.

BINGO

Fun Bingo will take place on in the Parish Hall on Sunday 13th September from 3pm.  Family members and friends are more than welcome to attend.  €5 per book and great raffle prizes.  Come along and enjoy

LUNCH CLUB

A reminder that the Active Retirement Lunch club will take place on Friday 19th September in Woods and Byrne, Roundwood at 1.30pm.

YOGA CLASSES

Yoga Classes will resume on Thursday 11th Sept.in Roundwood Parish Centre at 7.30 p.m.till 9.00 p.m. Class will include:-  Asana Work -flexibility of joints and muscles; Pranayama -breathing techniques to help focus and calm the mind; Meditation  -stillness-Deep relaxation; Class is open to all & each person is encouraged to work at their own pace.  Cost is 10 euro per class with minimum 60 euro commitment due on first night.  Booking/ Further details contact Anne-Marie  0868367578

PETER DARCY MEMORIAL GOLF CLASSIC

Glendalough and Roundwood Golf Societies are jointly running a Golf day at Roundwood Golf Club on Sat 13th September in memory of our friend, Peter Darcy.  Cost is €160 per team of 4 (or €40 per person) including dinner and entertainment in Byrne and Woods, Roundwood later that evening. We have lined up 3 bands over the course of the evening so it promises to be a great day and night.  Prizes for the golf include fourballs for Druids Glen, Carton House and loads of other top-class prizes.  Timesheet is now open (10am to 4pm). ROUNDWOOD & DISTRICT TEXT ALERT

Community volunteers are now delivering information and sign up forms to all houses in the Roundwood Garda District. Those volunteers will be calling back over the coming weeks to collect the forms and subscription monies. Many of the volunteers are distributing within their own areas and should be known to you. An official receipt will be given for all money collected.  If you have any concern regarding the person calling for money, please telephone 087 9040470 for verification.

ROUNDWOOD PARISH HALL DANCE

Come join us And The Wicklow Man on September 19th at 9.30pm for a lovely evening of music and dance. Refreshments and raffle on the night. Admission €8

SECOND HAND BOOKS FOR SALE

Second Hand Books now on sale in the Parish Hall. All proceeds go towards the Parish Hall Fund.  Huge variety available.  We will gratefully accept all donations of books to help our cause

LOTTO RESULTS

MONEYSTOWN DANCE

The Wicklow Man will play in Moneystown Community Centre on Friday 12th September from 9.30pm until 12. Door prizes, teas served, refreshments  also available. Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing, jive, line-dancing, etc.

SET DANCING

Set dancing in Kavanagh’s lounge every Thursday night with music this month by the O’Kane family. Session from 9pm until 11.

The next whist will be on Wednesday 3rd August in the Parish Centre.

HOME PRODUCERS MARKET

Roundwood Home Producers Market continues in Roundwood Parish Hall on Sundays from 12noon – 5p.m every Sunday. Come for your home baking, jams, crafts, vegetables, plants, etc. New members always welcome.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Well done to the Roundwood athletics that represented Wicklow in the Community Games final in Athlone last week-end. They all performed brilliantly and got PB.s on the day. They were Claire Byrne, Ross Mc Cormack, Bobby Brady, Eve Leacy, Matthew Byrne, Laoise Cullen and Roisin Belton.  A big thank you to Ann Marah and Laura Kavanagh who coached these children in the various disciplines. We are already looking forward to next year.
