Roundwood Pharmacy is holding a free draw for carers in support of National Carers Week 2014. It is to celebrate the work that family carers do looking after family members/friends etc. who are ill, frail, elderly or disabled. Details are on Roundwood Pharmacy’s Facebook page. Prizes include vouchers for Mountain Breeze, Wicklow Heather, Tinakilly House, Dunnes Stores and View Hair & Beauty.


The Roundwood Community Pre-school is celebrating their 30th anniversary this year.  To mark the occasion there will be a celebration at the Pre-School on Friday 20th June at 7pm.  If you were a past pupil or anyway involved over the past 30 years we would love you to join us to mark this special occasion.  For further information, please contact Sinead at 086-3444413


The Roundwood Active Retirement and Whist committee have organised a day tour on Thursday 10th July to Farmleigh House, Phoenix Park and a Liffey Cruise, passing the Four Courts and Customs House.  Evening meal on the way back and bus provided.  Total cost €50.  To book please call Molly at 0404 45407 or Betty at 01 2818703.


Shay Cullen, our new local councillor would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported him throughout the election campaign.   Shay is honoured to represent our area in the council and he would like to thank the wonderful & amazing people who helped make this a reality for him with a BBQ in Kavanagh’s Pub Roundwood from 6.30pm onwards on Saturday 14th of June.  Everyone is welcome and we hope as many of you as possible can make it so please come along so that we can all have an enjoyable evening together.


A story telling night will take place in Annamoe Community Centre on Friday the 13 June at 8pm.  All are welcome to a very entertaining night.


The get vocal choir is made up of older people from all over Wicklow and this year the concert will take place in the beautiful surroundings of Kilruddery House on Sunday 15th June at 4pm.   Tickets are €8 and available from the booking agent Mermaid Arts Centre on 01 2724030 or through their website (under the off-site events page) or on the door on the day of the concert.


Tony Davitt will play in Roundwood Parish Hall on Friday 20th June from 9.30 p.m. ‘til 12.   Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing, jive etc.


The blessing of the Graves in Roundwood Cemetery will take place on Sunday evening July 27th at 7pm


The Wicklow Man will play in Moneystown Community Centre on Friday June 13th from 9.30 till 12. Teas, door prizes, refreshments.  Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing, jive etc   


There was no winner of last week’s jackpot. The numbers drawn were 5, 7, 14 and 20.  There were seven match three winners, A.B.C.S., Kathleen Martin, Anne Byrne, Ayshea Nolan, Judy Scott, Amanda Smyth & Darren Murphy.  Next week’s jackpot will be €8,000.


Cardiac first responders would like to invite everyone to the Parish Hall after mass on Saturday 14 June to promote the Lions Clubs’ message in a bottle scheme. We hope to have some guest speakers to discuss good health and we will have some music, dancing and singing on the night. So put Saturday 14 June in your diary and come and join us for an informative and fun evening! 


In the final competition of the season Margaret Bolger and Noeleen  Redmond finished their season the way they started in January coming 1st , Elizabeth Belton and  Teresa Leahy were 2nd, Ger Lenihan and Paddy O’Brien took 3rd place whilst Mary Pierce and Triona  Woodroofe   were 4th.      002 Bridge club will resume bridge in September and Triona and Gaye would like to take this opportunity to thank all members and visitors for their continued support and wish all a very good summer break.


Fun Bingo will take place on Thursday the 12th June in the Parish Hall from 8pm – 10pm.  Family members and friends are more than welcome to attend.  €5 per book and great raffle prizes.  Come along and enjoy


A reminder that the Active Retirement Lunch club will take place on Friday 20th June in The Coach House, Roundwood at 1.30.


The next whist will be on Wednesday 11th June in the Parish Centre.


Our annual charity BBQ will take place on Wednesday 18th June at The Complex.  This year the proceeds will go towards the Áras an Tóchar Building Fund. A fun-filled evening is planned, with obstacle races, relays and races for kids, a Fit for Life Race for our Junior & Senior athletes. Along with the BBQ, we will have face painting, a raffle, spot prizes, and music.  Everyone is very welcome to come along for what will be a great night of entertainment, hope to see you there!


This year, Roundwood Historical & Folklore Society will publish its 25th journal. We are looking for articles, however big or small, or suggestions for articles that might be included. Please contact Derek on 2818118 or


Roundwood Home Producers Market has re-opened in Roundwood Parish Hall on Sundays from noon – 5p.m every Sunday. Come for your home baking, jams, crafts, vegetables, plants, etc. New members always welcome.


Angel Healing takes place every Monday night at 7.30 in the Parish Centre, Roundwood Village. It is non denominational. Come along to a night of spiritual connection, relaxation and meditation. For more information contact Mary 087 9819420


Anne Sexton PilatesClass on Thursdays at 12 noon – Mobility and Posture for the Older Adult. Call in and have a chat with Anne and try it out! Also, Boxercise – new class on a Friday night at 8 pm. €10 for adult, €6 for students and unwaged.


Set dancing in Kavanagh’s lounge every Thursday night with music this week by CDs and by Michael and Brian for the remainder of the month. Lessons before hand at 8.30pm with session from 9pm until 11pm. Love if you could join us on the dance floor for a night of fun and lively banter.
