It will be all hands to the pumps this week for the annual BBQ and Fit 4 Life race
We need

Tuesday 17th from about 7.30 pm – help with setting up chairs/ tables etc. at complex
Wednesday from 3pm – Table set up outside etc.

Wednesday from 6-7.30pm – Help with kid’s events

Tug O’War

Wednesday 7.00 – 8.30pm – Fit 4 Life race – Terry Kavanagh will be main organiser for this
Wednesday from 6.30pm – BBQ cooking etc, raffle tickets, car parking
Wednesday til late – clear up and put everything away

DAY TOUR

The Roundwood Active Retirement and Whist committee have organised a day tour on Thursday 10th July to Farmleigh House, Phoenix Park and a Liffey Cruise, passing the Four Courts and Customs House.  Evening meal on the way back and bus provided.  Total cost €50.  To book please call Molly at 0404 45407 or Betty at 01 2818703.

STORY TELLING

A story telling night will take place in Annamoe Community Centre on Friday the 13 June at 8pm.  All are welcome to a very entertaining night.

DEFIBRILLATOR

A defibrillator has been donated to Roundwood AFC. This defibrillator will be made available to the community 24/7.  Please come along to the public meeting in Roundwood parish hall on Wednesday 4th June at 7.30 pm to learn how you can access and use this piece of life saving equipment.

BLESSING OF GRAVES

The blessing of the graves in Roundwood Cemetery will take place on Sunday evening July 27th at 7pm.

DANCE

The Wicklow Man will play in Moneystown Community Centre on Friday June 13th from 9.30 until 12. Teas, door prizes, refreshments.  Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing, jive, etc.

FIRST RESPONDERS

Cardiac first responders would like to invite everyone to the parish hall after mass on Saturday 14th June to promote the Lions Clubs’ message in a bottle scheme. We hope to have some guest speakers to discuss good health and we will have some music, dancing and singing on the night. So put Saturday 14 June in your diary and come and join us for an informative and fun evening!

COMMUNITY GAMES 

Swimming:  Any child interested in swimming for Roundwood in the Co Finals of Community Games should let the committee know as soon as possible. We are organizing lessons in Greystones. The finals will be held in Arklow pool on Sat 21st June. Contact Elizabeth for further information on 0863636157.

WHIST RESULTS

The results of the whist is as follows:- Top Score: Paddy O’Brien; Top Gent: Pat Fisher; Second Gent: Richie Cullen; Top Lady: Mary Cullen; Second Lady: Molly Byrne; First Half: Maureen Gaffney; Second Half: Mary Murphy; Lowest Score: Maura McHugh & Longest Sitting: Kitty Kennedy.  Raffle prizes were won by: Martin Byrne, Maura McHugh, Monica Brady & Mary Pierce.  The next whist will be on Wednesday 11th June in the Parish Centre.

SHAVE R DYE

Marie Conway from Castlekevin is doing a cancer Shave r Dye on 6th June in Glenmalure with her grandson Graham, he’s dying and Marie is shaving!  All are welcome

ATHLETICS BBQ

Our annual charity BBQ will take place on Wednesday 18th June at The Complex.  This year the proceeds will go towards the Áras an Tochar Building Fund. A fun-filled evening is planned, with obstacle races, relays and races for kids, a Fit for Life Race for our Junior & Senior athletes. Along with the BBQ, we will have face painting, a raffle, spot prizes, and music.  Everyone is very welcome to come along for what will be a great night of entertainment, hope to see you there!

HISTORICAL JOURNAL

This year, Roundwood Historical & Folklore Society will publish its 25th journal. We are looking for articles, however big or small, or suggestions for articles that might be included. Please contact Derek on 2818118 or derekneilson@eircom.net

HOME PRODUCERS MARKET

Roundwood Home Producers Market has re-opened in Roundwood Parish Hall on Sundays from 12noon – 5p.m every Sunday. Come for your home baking, jams, crafts, vegetables, plants, etc. New members always welcome.

ANGEL HEALING

Angel Healing takes place every Monday night at 7.30 in the Parish Centre, Roundwood Village. It is non denominational. Come along to a night of spiritual connection, relaxation and meditation. For more information contact Mary 087 9819420

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no winner of last week’s jackpot. The numbers drawn were 11, 17, 25 & 28.  There were seven match three winners, Seamus Cullen, Jacinta Kenna, Breda Kearney, Ann Kennedy, S & B, Sean Cullen & June Connolly. Next week’s jackpot will be €7,700.

PILATES

Anne Sexton PilatesClass on Thursdays at 12 noon – Mobility and Posture for the Older Adult. Call in and have a chat with Anne and try it out! Also, Boxercise – new class on a Friday night at 8 pm. €10 for adult, €6 for students and unwaged.

SET DANCING

Set dancing in Kavanagh’s lounge every Thursday night with music this week by CDs and by Michael and Brian for the remainder of the month. Lessons before hand at 8.30pm with session from 9pm until 11. Love if you could join us on the dance floor for a night of fun and lively banter.
