FOLK GROUP

Roundwood Folk Group are on the look-out for a guitarist/musician to help them in the New Year with Saturday night mass.  Very flexible not every Saturday & not a big commitment but very enjoyable.  Please contact Helena on (086) 300 if you would like to do it.

BADMINTON

Badminton has resumed on a Tuesday morning from 9.30a.m  All are welcome.

LUNCH CLUB

PARISH HALL A.G.M

The Roundwood Parish Hall Annual General Meeting will take place on 29th of October at 7.30pm.

TABLE QUIZ

A date for your diary.  Roundwood Golf Society will hold their annual table quiz night in aid of Roundwood Senior Citizens Christmas party in Kavanaghs Vartry House on Friday the 25th October at 8.30pm.  Your support & donations for spot and raffle prizes would be gratefully appreciated.

SUNSHINE FITNESS

Sunshine Fitness will be starting ‘Baby and Me’, ‘Golden Oldies’ (for aged 65+) and ‘Curvy Whirlies ‘ (for plus size women) fitness classes in the parish hall from September 17th.  Please contact Caitríona on 0876035780 for more information.

OSCARZ

An Tóchar GAA Oscarz Fundraiser – Saturday 19th October at 8pm.  An Tóchar GAA club will produce seven movies – 50 volunteer actors from the community and club will take part.  Each movie will be screened at our Oscarz event on Saturday 19th October, in Aras An Tochar. WALKING GROUP

Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action meeting at 7pm this Wednesday at the Coach House car park.  All welcome to walk at your own pace for approximately one hour.

WHIST RESULTS

The results of the whist are as follows:- Top Score: Richie Cullen; Top Gent: Pat Fisher; Second Gent: Shay Brady; Top Lady: Marie Magee; Second Lady: Marie Magee; First Half: Mary Pierce; Second Half: Mick Whelan; Longest Sitting: Jimmy Molloy & Lowest Score: Margaret Kennedy.  The raffle prizes were won by: Kitty Kennedy, Mary Kenna, Mary Pierce, Anne Pierce *& Pat Fisher.  The next whist will be tonight Wednesday 23rd October in the Parish Centre

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Maria Magee and Judy Skates took 1st first place for North/South on Monday 7th October, Ger Lenihan & Margaret Bolger were 2nd and Catherine McGillycuddy & Catherine Halligan were 3rd.  1st place for East/West were Maura Gaskin and Pamela Byrne and joint 2nd/3rd were Brid Clancy & Bridie  Nolan and Maria n Davies & Teresa Leahy.

002 BRIDGE CLUB

Noeleen Redmond and Margaret Bolger played their cards right for North/South on Friday 11th, 2nd Maria Magee & Gary Dowling and 3rd June Digby & Monica Brady. 1st for East/West were Liz Belton and Phil Kenna, 2nd Maura Gaskin & Bridie Nolan and 3rd Marion Davis & Teresa Leahy.

MEN’S SHED

The SHED is open every Tuesday from 10 to 12 a.m. at Pat Carr’s place in Knockraheen. If you have not already joined us you will be very welcome. Recently we visited Turlough Hill and with the sun shining and little wind it was a truly memorable, informative and educational outing. Sincere thanks to Paddy Hanlon who was our driver and guide and sincere thanks also to Gerry O’Toole for the use of a minibus. More recently we were delighted to welcome two nuns from the Hermitage Centre in Glendalough. They came on a mission and we will be delighted to help them.

LOTTO

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot last week.  The numbers drawn were, 3, 18, 24 & 28. There were one match three winner Pat McDonnell  Next week’s jackpot will be €15,400.

MARKET

ROUNDWOOD DANCE

There will be a dance in Roundwood Parish Centre on Friday 25th October with music by Jimmy Hogan.  All are welcome

SET DANCING

Our weekly set dancing sessions continue in Kavanagh’s Lounge All are always welcome – whether you have ever or never danced before  Session starts at 8.30 til 10.30 and cost is still only €5 for a goodnight of exercise.

ROUNDWOOD CANCER SUPPORT

The Roundwood Cancer Support centre is now up and running and is open in the Parish Centre on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10a.m until 1pm.  Please feel free to pop in for a chat we will be happy to help.  If anyone needs to make any enquiries outside these hours please telephone our confidential phone number 087 6062072
