MENS SHED
Roundwood Men’s Shed: Our activities continue every Tuesday from 10 onwards and age, class, colour or creed will never be an issue regarding joining the group. ‘A healthy mind in a healthy body’ would be an apt motto for our SHED and the hundreds of other SHEDS throughout the country. Whatever about some of the aching ailing bodies, the storytelling, the problem solving and the near thousand years of life’s experience around the table certainly enriches the mind. Call 086 8650588 for any information at any time.

PATTERN DAY WALK
The annual Pattern Day Walk from Moneystown Community Centre to Lady’s Well Ballymanus Upper on Carrick Mountain will take place on Sunday 13th August, leaving Moneystown at 6 pm.  The route is five and a half miles in total (good walking shoes recommended and no dogs allowed!).  Suitable for older children accompanied by adults.  The route is along the road and then on Coillte roads.  Lady’s well is an ancient holy well that is marked on the Neville Maps of 1760 as an important site.  The well was rediscovered in 2013 and there has been a walk every year on or close to the original pattern day – August 15th.  There will be a short talk on the history and traditions of the holy wells and also relevant local history.  If you want to play music, read a poem or sing a song feel free to join in as singing, dancing etc were all part of the traditions of pattern days and visits to the well.  Refreshments after the walk in Moneystown Community Centre.  Any queries please contact Rosaleen at rosaleendurkin8@gmail.com.
