Roundwood Badminton players are great sports on and off court!

BADMINTON

Badminton will be start back in Aras An Tochar on Mondays and Wednesdays on the 5th of September at 7:30pm. All are welcome, both new and returning members. We will be having an open week this week so if you would like to try out a new sport it’s the perfect opportunity! Look forward to seeing you all there.

THEATRE CLUB

Wonderland Productions Roundwood is starting back on FRIDAY 9TH SEPT. Suitable for 7 -12 year olds, this weekly AFTER-SCHOOL THEATRE CLUB takes place in the Parish Hall every Friday at 3.15pm. No experience is necessary, the emphasis is on fun, imagination, and creating plays. Children get to explore characters, story-telling and develop confidence in performing. They also learn about acting, directing and stage-craft. This term we will also be looking for one or two young actors to perform in our new professional production ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’. IRISH DANCING CLASSES

This event is a fundraising initiative of the teenagers involved in the Stagebratz Starz Showchoir.
The group are through to the Live Final of National Showchoir Ireland 2016. This is a big competition where the students have to perform a 10 min long vocal & dance routine (Think Glee). They are up against groups from all over Ireland but they will be proudly flying the flag for Roundwood and Co Wicklow!! This is a non profit group and all funds raised go towards giving the teens of Wicklow the opportunity to showcase their amazing talents on a bigger stage. Your support would be much appreciated.

MUSIC IN CALARY

The next concert in Calary Church will take place at 8 pm on Thursday September 8 when Musici Ireland will play works by Beethoven, Boccherini and Dohnanyi. The performers will be Helena Wood (violin), Beth McNinch (viola) and Grainne Hope (cello). Their programme will be Beethoven’s Op.3 in Eb followed by Boccherini’s String Trio in D major, Op.14, No.4 and ending with Dohnanyi’s Serenade Opus 10.  Tickets, which are €18 and €15 for concessions, can be booked by ringing John at (01) 2818146 or by email to derekneilson@eircom.net .

ANNAMOE CENTRE

Story House this Friday in Annamoe Centre, the 9th September at 8pm. All welcome to a great night of entertainment.  Bowls every Tuesday night at 8pm, new members welcome.   Women’s/Men’s Shed starts back on Wednesday morning the 15th September at 10:30am. YOGA

Yoga classes will resume on Thurs.15th Sept. in Roundwood Parish Centre at 7.30p.m. to 9.00p.m. Class will include Asana (Physical stretches and strengthening) Pranayama (breathing techniques), Deep relaxation & Meditation.  Cost: 10euros per class with minimum of 50 euro due on first night.  Class is accessible to most people as we work within our own limits. MATHS GRINDS

Rebecca Delamere will be teaching group Maths lessons on a weekly basis in the Parish Hall in Roundwood for secondary school students.  Class sizes will be very small and there will be classes at different levels.  These lessons provide support for students who may be struggling with Maths in school, support for students who are aiming for high grades and also prepare students for their Maths exams.  To reserve a space of for further information, please contact Rebecca on 086 0650129 or rebeccadelameremathslessons@outlook.ie

The Wicklow man will play in Roundwood Parish Hall on Friday September 16th – 9.30 p.m. ‘til 12.   Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing, jiving etc

CAR BOOT SALE

The monthly Parish Hall Car Boot Sale takes place on Sunday next, September 11th. For Information and Booking please contact Ben 087-9627527 . Indoor and outdoor spaces available, Booking is essential as limited to 20 tables indoors. Open to stall holders from 10 a.m open to the public from 12 noon to 5 pm. Tables can only be held until 11.30 a.m

MASS OF THE ANGELS

Our Annual Mass of Remembrance will be on Saturday 1st October at 6.30 p.m in Roundwood Church.  This special Mass will be for the parents and families of babies who died before birth, at birth, or in infancy, and for those who died in early childhood, youth and young adulthood either in recent years or in the past. We extend a very warm welcome to all parents, families, relatives and friends who have suffered such a loss

MEN’S SHED

A meeting for anyone interested in setting up a men’s shed in the Roundwood area will take place at 7:30pm on Monday the 12th of September in Roundwood Parish Hall.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL

The Roundwood & District Community Council will return to their regular meetings after their August break on Monday 12th of September at 8:30pm in Roundwood Parish Hall. The Community Council meets the second Monday of every month to discuss various issues including parking, tidy towns, broadband, youth facilities, Vartry Reservoir walks and much more. LOTTO RESULTS

There was no winner yet again of the jackpot last weekend.  The numbers drawn were 9, 14, 21 & 30. There were six match three winners Fiona Timmons, Tom Kennedy, D O’Sullivan, Jackie Wolohan, Enda Kavanagh & Daisy. Next weeks jackpot stays at €19,400

A 45 Card Game takes place every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community Centre starting at 8.45pm. Teas served. All are welcome.

The results of the whist are as follows:- Top Score: Maura McHugh; Top Gent: Martin Byrne; Second Gent: Tom McHugh; Top Lady: May Kenna; Second Lady: Nan Wolohan; First Half: Ann Pierce; Second Half: Kitty Kennedy; Longest Sitting: Ann Gaffney & Lowest Score: Mary Pierce.  Raffle prizes were won by Tom McHugh, Kitty Kennedy, Jimmy Molloy, Molly Byrne & May Kenna.  Next whist will be on Wednesday 14th September in The Parish Centre.

PARISH HALL

SET DANCING

Set Dancing continues every Thursday night in Kavanagh’s Lounge from 9pm til 11pm with music this month by the O’Kane family.  Come along and join us for a night of good fun, great exercise and a very social night out.  Newcomers always welcome and great way to meet some locals.  Cost for night of dancing and entertainment is still only €5.
