MUSIC & SONGS OF CO WICKLOW

Roundwood Historical Societies April event “Farewell to Delgany, likes wise the Glen” the Music & Songs of County Wicklow from The Traditional Music Archive, presented by Grace Toland, takes place at 8pm on Monday 28th in Calary Church. Grace Toland is Librarian of the Irish Traditional Music Archive in Dublin and is a traditional singer. She plans the annual Inishowen Singing Weekend and was the driving force behind the Inishowen Song Project. There will also be musical contributions from well known local traditional musicians on the night. Admission is €5 and booking is essential. To book a seat please Contact 01-2818146/01-2818118

BINGO

Fun Bingo will take place on Sunday the 13th April in the Parish Hall at 3pm. Family members and friends are more than welcome to attend. €5 per book and great raffle prizes. Come along and enjoy

HOME PRODUCERS MARKET

Roundwood Home Producers Market will be re-opening in Roundwood Parish Hall on next Sunday, 6th April from 12noon – 5p.m every Sunday. Come for your home baking, jams, crafts, vegetables, plants, etc. New members always welcome.

ANGEL HEALING

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no winner of last week’s jackpot. The numbers drawn were 7, 13, 20 & 23. There were six match four winners, Noel Power, Jamie Doyle, Breda Daly, E.T Reid, Rich Pierce and Susan Doyle. Next week’s jackpot will be €5,300.

SPECIAL MASS

If you, your family, a relative or friend or neighbour are suffering from an illness, or are troubled in mind or body, we invite you to join us at our Special Mass on Monday of Holy Week (April 14th) at 7pm in Roundwood Church. At this Mass we will have special prayers for the sick, and for those wishing to avail of it, there will be anointing with oils.

DERRALOSSARY SPRING CLEAN

The United Friends of Derralossary are organising a clean up at DerralossaryChurch and Graveyard on Saturday 12th of April from 10am to 4pm. Please bring along willing hands and/or a strimmer, grass mower, shears, slash hook or hoe if available to you! Family and friends of those buried in Derralossary are particularly welcome.

BADMINTON

Morning Badminton continues every Tuesday from 9.30 until 11am for anyone who would like to join us. Beginners are always welcome as are improvers and those who just want to play! Congratulations to all those who took part in the Wicklow championships, the finals of which were held last Sat night in Roundwood and the triumphant morning players were Marion, Gill, Mary, Paddy and Ger. Hard to believe 2 years ago some of these had never stood on a badminton court let alone reach a final so well done to all of you

ATHLETICS

Well done to all the young athletes who took part in the Leinster Juvenile Indoor Championships in Athlone on 9th & 10th March. Special mention must go to Eve Leacy and Rebecca Molloy who won gold in the Girls U12 and U13 High Jump respectively, and to Sean Leacy who claimed Silver in the U13 boys High Jump. Following on from this the 3 athletes competed in the All Ireland Juvenile Indoor Championships on 22nd and 23rd March. Again they all performed wonderfully with Rebecca and Sean placing 5th and 6th respectively and Eve claiming a Silver medal in her event. Thank you to all the coaches and parents involved in getting the athletes to these events and helping them to achieve these results. Adult and teenager training continues every Tuesday at 6.30pm at GAA complex. Wednesday Night Training for 10 years and older at 6pm at Greystones track. We need to see all the 10yrs+ Athletes there to prepare for the upcoming outdoor track season. Children are training every Friday 6-7pm at GAA Complex. Come along to the dam gates (out the Newtown road) at 10:00am every Sunday morning. New trainers and helpers always welcome and of course new members. Club singlets, shorts and hoodies are also available to purchase.

Raffle Prizes, Richie Cullen, Maura McHugh, Mary Pierce, Ann Pierce & Paddy Halligan. The next whist will be on Wednesday 16th April 2014.

PILATES

Anne Sexton PilatesClass on Thursdays at 12 noon – Mobility and Posture for the Older Adult. Call in and have a chat with Anne and try it out! Also, Boxercise – new class on a Friday night at 8 pm. €10 for adult, €6 for students and unwaged.

SET DANCING

Set dancing in Kavanagh’s lounge every Thursday night with music this week by CDs and by Michael and Brian for the remainder of the month. Lessons before hand at 8.30 with session from 9pm until 11. Love if you could join us on the dance floor for a night of fun and lively banter.

HUMPTY DUMPTY PLAY GROUP

The Cuidiu Humpty Dumpty Playgroup meets every Wednesday from 10 – 11.30 am in the Parish Hall. All pre-school children are welcome. Bring along your Parent or Minder & they can have tea and a chat while you play!

There will be two day trips, a tour of Semple Stadium and Holy Cross Abbey on 3rdMay leaving Roundwood at 8a.m. at a cost of €65 per person and a trip to Suir Valley railway line between Waterford and Dungarvan and Garden Bord Bia and the Arboretum which has lovely plants and shrubs which will take place on Saturday 5th July at a cost of €65 per person. MONEYSTOWN DANCE

The Wicklow Man will play in Moneystown Community Centre on Friday 11 April 9.30pm till 12. Teas, door prizes, refreshments also available. Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing, jive etc. Tony Davitt will play on Friday 9th May

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Winners for North/South on Monday 31st March were Catherine McGillycuddy and Bridie Nolan, Pamela Byrne and Clare Sally were 2nd and Mary Pierce and Kay Plunkett were 3rd, victors for East/West were Ger Lenihan and Paddy O’Brien, 2nd Nancy O’Brien and Catherine Halligan, and 3rd Molly Byrne and Rachel Judd.

002 BRIDGE CLUB

Sharing 1st/2nd place for North/South on Friday 4th April were Nancy O’Brien/Catherine McGillycuddy and Liz Belton/ Jim McNamara taking 3rd place were Maria Magee and Rowena Brady. The formidable pairing of Margaret Bolger and Noeleen Redmond continued their winning streak for East/West whilst Paddy O’Brien and Kay Plunkett were 2nd and Pat Rushe and Margaret Byrne were 3rd.

RDCC

RDCC will hold their next meeting on April 14th at 8pm in the Old School…. all welcome!

MUSIC NIGHT

There will be a music night in Aras An Tochar Community Centre on Easter Sunday night starting at 8.30pm. Come along and enjoy the night.

45 CARD DRIVE
