GET VOCAL

Anyone over 50 interested in joining the County Wicklow Get Vocal group starting Brockagh on 4th March from 11am to 12.30pm. Various groups from around the country will rehearse and in June will get together to sing the songs.  For further information please contact Molly at 086 3291256

BINGO

Fun Bingo will take place on Sunday 9th March in the Parish Hall at 3pm.  Family members and friends are more than welcome to attend.  €5 per book and great raffle prizes.  Come along and enjoy

LADIES GOLF LESSONS

The starting date for ladies golf lessons which will be held at Djouce Golf Club is Tuesday April 1st2014. Lessons will be held on Tuesday afternoons from 3pm to 4pm and from 4pm to 5pm. There will be a max number of 12 ladies per group and the course will run for 4 weeks.  The course is suitable for all levels from beginners to advanced. Cost is €50 per person. CAPTAINS DRIVE IN

Djouce Golf Club Captains’ Drive In took place on Sat March 1st. Lady Captain Deirdre Carroll and Men’s Captain Jack Nathan teed off the new season. Despite the recent bad weather the course was in good condition and the weather remained dry. The format for the day was a team scramble of mixed teams ladies and men. Winners on the day were the team of John Murray, John Crabbe, Margaret Schutte and Marion Kennedy. Second were John Kavanagh, David Walsh, Ann Leahy and Margaret Bolger. Good luck to both Deirdre and Jack in their year ahead as club captains.

 COMPUTER COURSE

A beginner’s computer course will start in RoundwoodNationalSchool on Thursday 13th of March for 8 weeks. If you are interested in taking part or would like further information please call 086 8055040. This course is organised through the Roundwood & District Community Council with the support of Community Education Section of Kildare Wicklow Education & Training Board (formerly Wicklow VEC).

COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Roundwood and District Community Council will hold their next meeting in the Old School on Monday 10th March at 8pm. Everyone welcome

RACE NIGHT

There will be a race night on Saturday 8th March in Vartry House, Roundwoos at 8.30pm to support Shay Cullen in the local elections.  All are welcome to join us for a night of fun and horse racing.

LUNCH CLUB

A reminder that the Active Retirement Lunch club will take place on Friday 21st March in Woods and Byrne, Roundwood.

AIKIDO

Aikido is a non-competitive Japanese Martial Art for Flexibility, Coordination, Relaxation and Self-Defence and Joe McHugh 4th Dan Aikido Aikikai will be holding a ten week beginners course in RoundwoodNationalSchool on Thursdays from 7.30 to 8.45pm.  The cost will be €50 for adults and €40 for students.  For further information please contact Joe at 086 1019668

MONEYSTOWN DANCE

John Flood will play in Moneystown Community Centre on Friday 14th March from 9.30pm till 12. Door prizes, teas and refreshments are available. Come along to enjoy a night of waltzing, jive etc. The Wicklow Man will play on Friday 11th April and Tony Davitt will play on Friday 9th May

ANGEL HEALING

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no jackpot winner in last weeks draw.  The numbers drawn were 9, 18, 21 & 25.  There were seven match four winners, John Cullen, T & K, Maddain Smullen, Bobby Scott (snr) Shamus Doyle, Shamus Doyle & Ciara Murphy.  Next weeks jackpot will be €19,100.

LADIES GOLF LESSONS

Djouce Lady Captain Deirdre Carroll is planning on organising group golf lessons at Djouce Golf Club for ladies who have always thought they would like to try the game of golf. The group lessons will be given by a golf professional and will cover all levels and also people who have never picked up a golf club before! So ladies give golf a try and don’t worry about not having any golf clubs the clubs you will need will be provided for the lessons. Golf is a great game. Come along and enjoy the fresh air and have fun. The plan is to hold the group lessons in early spring. The total cost for four one hour lessons is €50. PILATES

Anne Sexton PilatesClass on Thursdays at 12 noon – Mobility and Posture for the Older Adult.  Call in and have a chat with Anne and try it out!  Also, Boxercise – new class on a Friday night at 8 pm.  €10 for adult, €6 for students and unwaged.

MASS OF REMEMBRANCE

The Annual Mass of Remembrance for Parishioners and family members of Parishioners who died since March last year and whose funerals took place outside the Parish will take place on Saturday March 15th at 6.30 pm

HUMPTY DUMPTY PLAY GROUP

The Cuidiu Humpty Dumpty Playgroup meets every Wednesday from 10 – 11.30 am in the Parish Hall.  All pre-school children are welcome.  Bring along your Parent or Minder & they can have tea and a chat while you play!

KNOCK

S.M.A. pilgrimage to Knock will take place on Saturday 24th May leaving Laragh at 7a.m, Roundwood at 7.30a.m. Bus, breakfast and dinner €50 per person.  All money to be paid before 1st May, 2014.  All enquiries to 0404 45276.

GETAWAYS

There will be two day trips, a tour of Semple Staduim and Holy Cross Abbey on 3rd May leaving Roundwood at 8a.m. at a cost of €65 per person and a trip to Suir Valley railway line between Waterford and Dungarvan and Garden Bord Bia, The Arbortium which has lovely plants and shrubs which will take place on Saturday 5th July at a cost of €65 per person.  Tea, scones and evening meal and bus included in the price, leaving at 9a.m.  Contact 0404 45276 before 1st April.  A three night trip to Iceland going on 23rd October.  Total cost €599.  Deposit of €200 to be paid before 1st July.  All enquiries to 0404 45276

ATHLETICS

We had over 30 adults and children running last Sunday morning at the Dam – lots of new faces and you are all very welcome! Next Sunday’s session will be coached by Anita and Michael (10am at the Reservoir entrance on the Newtown Road.  Next up the TUESDAY Adult and Teenager session at 6.30pm at the GAA complex, with the Maestro Anne Marah – spring into spring and get yourself fit!!  Best of luck to all our athletes (U12 – U19) who will be heading to Athlone this weekend to compete in the Leinster Indoor Competitions!

SET DANCING

Set dancing is back in full swing in Kavanagh’s lounge every Thursday night with music this week by CDs and by the O’Kane family for the remainder of the month. Lessons before hand at 8.30 with session from 9pm until 11pm. Love if you could join us on the dance floor for a night of fun and good exercise
