Roundwood Variety Group is proposing to hold a cookery demonstration by the well-known Wicklow chef, Catherine Fulvio, in The Royal Hotel in Bray on Wednesday 20th November.  Keep the date free as it promises to be a great night & watch this space for more details.

TABLE QUIZ

Date for your diaries – Roundwood Golf Society – Annual Table Quiz Night In aid of Roundwood Senior Citizens in Kavanagh’s Vartry House on Friday 18th October 2013 at  8.00 p.m.  Your support will be appreciated.  Items required for Spot Prizes/Raffle Prizes.  All donations will be gratefully accepted

BEGINNERS DIGITAL CAMERA COURSE

The digital camera course for beginners will start on the 15th of October at 7pm in the Old School. The course will run for 8 weeks and will have some outdoor sessions on Saturday mornings. If you would like further information or to book a place please call 086 8055040.

MASS OF REMEMBRANCE

Our Annual Mass of Remembrance – Service of Light will be on Saturday 2nd November at 6.30pm.  This mass is for parishioners who died in the past year and whose funerals took place from either Roundwood or Moneystown Church.

IRISH CONVERSATION CLASSES

Improve Your Gaeilge – Maybe you want to be able to help your child/grandchild with their ‘obair baile’ or simply be able to understand the ‘nuacht’ or weather on TG4.  If so you might wish to join An Tochar GAA’s  Gaeilge conversation classes  this autumn.  Eileen Patterson will be hosting and has already started on Tuesday nights in Aras an Tochar at 7.30pm. Eileen will not be charging for the classes but a donation of €2 per night is encouraged which will be given to a charitable cause at ‘Nollaig’  If you’re interested please come along on the night,

FERN ART

Autumn Art Classes begin on Friday 11th October from 10 am – 12 noon in Roundwood Parish Hall & Centre – Drawing and Painting. Beginners and improvers Welcome. Individual attention given. For more information contact Janet on 086 3042030

COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Roundwood District and Community Council will hold their next meeting in the Old School on Monday 14th October @ 8pm.   If you have any ideas on how to improve our community please come along and share your ideas with us, everyone welcome.

KILLARNEY WEEKEND

A weekend to Killarney from 25th to 28th October will leave Roundwood at 9a.m on the Friday 25th and not 24th as previously stated.  All money to be paid before 20th October.  For more details contact 0404 45276 after 8pm.

MONEYSTOWN DANCE

The Wicklow man will play In Moneystown Community Centre on Friday 11th October from 9.30 till late. Tear served, door prizes, refreshments also available. Come along n enjoy a night of waltzing jive etc

ATHLETICS

Wicklow hospice cheque presentation: Last Friday 4th October, RADAC presented a cheque for €3050 to the Wicklow Hospice Foundation from proceeds from our very successful Summer BBQ. Many thanks to everyone who came and supported us on the night, donated food for the BBQ and prizes for the raffle, our helpers, trainers and athletes, a huge thanks to all!  Cross Country:  Sunday 13th October: Athletics Wicklow XC Championships. Uneven ages and Intermediate in Rathdrum at 11:00am.  There will be no training in Roundwood that day.  AGM: Our club AGM is planned for Thursday 7th November at 8pm in the Old School, Roundwood. More details to follow. 

ART EXHIBITION

An Art Exhibition will take place in Calary from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th October finishing with the Annual Harvest thanksgiving Service at 3pm on the Sunday. The Exhibition will open at 7.30pm on Friday 11th with music by Traditional Musicians. On Saturday 12th it will be open for viewing from 11am – 6pm when there will be country produce on sale. On Sunday 13th the viewing is from 12noon to 2.30pm and at 3pm all are welcome to the Harvest Thanksgiving service which will be followed by the usual Harvest Tea. Details of how to enter paintings in the Exhibition are available from Gay Nuttall – 2818112 or 086 0605268. Entries must be received by Friday 4th October to be included in the catalogue.

ROUNDWOOD BADMINTON

Looking for something different to do on a Tuesday morning after you have dropped the children to school? Why not come and join us for an hour of Badminton in Aras an Tochar from 9.30am started back on Tuesday 1st October 2013. All are welcome including Total beginners – no need to go out and purchase a racket as there are a few available to try out.

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB 

Ger Lenihan and his partner Miriam Coyle took first place for North/South on Monday 3Oth September, Catherine McGillycuddy and Bridie Nolan were 2nd and Gertie Fee and  Monica Brady were 3rd, Catherine Halligan and Nancy O Brien were the victors for East/ West, Clare Sally and Pamela Byrne were 2nd and Maura Gaskin and Margaret Byrne were 3rd.

002 BRIDGE CLUB

June Digby and Monica Brady secured 1st place in a closely fought competition on Friday 4th October, Jim McNamara and his partner Margaret Byrne were 2nd and Ger Lenihan and Gertie Fee were 3rd.  East/West winners were Maura Gaskin and Bridie Nolan, 2nd Noeleen Redmond and Margaret Bolger and 3rd Miriam Coyle and Marian Davis 

ROUNDWOOD DANCE

There will be dancing in The Community Centre in Roundwood  on October 18th music will be by The Wicklow Man and on 15th November music is by Tony Davitt. All are welcome. 

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no winner of last week’s lotto. The numbers drawn were 4, 12, 16 & 30. There were five match three winners Jo Malone, Maire Magee, John & Carol, C & Noel McCoy & Zach & Lucas. Next weeks jackpot will be €13,100.

Roundwood Home Producers Market continues on Sundays from 12 – 5pm. Come and enjoy our home baking, crafts, jams, marmalade, plants, etc. New Members welcome.

ROUNDWOOD SET DANCING

Calling all would be, could be and should be SET DANCERS. We have been plodding away at our weekly set dancing sessions every Thursday night in Kavanagh’s Lounge but we now need your help. Thanks to the loyal support of our musicians, we still have live music every night with the exception of one night per month. However due to fall in numbers, we cannot continue without your support. If you think you would like to try this we are giving lessons from 8.30pm before the session starts at 9pm so please feel free to join us.
