Roundwood & District Notes 5th of November

 

BINGO

Fun Bingo will take place on in the Annamoe Centre on Sunday 10th November from 3pm.  Family members and friends are more than welcome to attend.  €5 per book and great raffle prizes.  Come along and enjoy

SUNSHINE FITNESS

Sunshine Fitness will be starting ‘Baby and Me’, ‘Golden Oldies’ (for aged 65+) and ‘Curvy Whirlies ‘ (for plus size women) fitness classes in the parish hall from September 17th.  Please contact Caitríona on 0876035780 for more information.

GOLDEN JUBILEE

To mark the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the Church of the Sacred Heart Moneystown, Archbishop Dr. Diarmuid Martin, D.D. will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving there on Sunday November 24th at 11.30 am.  Mass in St Laurence O’Toole Church Roundwood will take place at the earlier time of 10am on that day.

CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS

Muintir na Tíre has been allocated funding by the Department of Rural and Community Development to install Carbon Monoxide alarms. This programme is aimed at persons who do not have existing alarms and do not have the resources to install alarms themselves. The Roundwood & District Community are applying under the scheme for the Roundwood – Moneystown area. The group can assist in installing the alarms if the need arises. The alarms are battery powered so installation is straightforward. If you are elderly, have a disability or are unemployed and do not have a carbon monoxide alarm in your home and wish to apply please call 086 8055040 on or before Wednesday 6th of November.

PERSONAL ALARMS

The Roundwood and District Community Council are registered to administer the senior alert scheme which provides grants to elderly people towards the provision of personal alarms in the area. The personal alarm offers reassurance to allow independent living, safe in the knowledge that you can quickly be in contact with a family member or neighbour in the event of an emergency. It provides security and peace of mind. If you would like more information, please give call 086 8055040

FOLK GROUP

Roundwood Folk Group are on the look-out for a guitarist/musician to help them in the New Year with Saturday night mass.  Very flexible not every Saturday & not a big commitment but very enjoyable.  Please contact Helena on (086) 3000194 if you would like to do it.

BADMINTON

Badminton continues on a Tuesday morning from 9.30a.m  All are welcome.

LUNCH CLUB

A reminder that the Active Retirement Lunch club will take place on Friday 22nd November in The Coach House at 1.30pm.  Please let Molly at 0404 45407or May at 0404 45178 know if you are interested in going

WALKING GROUP

Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action meeting at 7pm this Wednesday at the Coach House car park.  All welcome to walk at your own pace for approximately one hour.

WHIST

The next whist will be Wednesday 6th November in the Parish Centre, Roundwood.

PARISH SALE OF WORK

Roundwood And Moneystown Christmas Sale of Work will take place in the GAA complex on Sunday December 1st from 12 – 4pm.  A great day out for all the family with something for everyone.  All good quality donations for the various stalls can be left with Maureen in the Parish Office between 9am and 12.30pm (Mon-Thurs) before November 28th.  In particular we are looking for bottles for the Bottle Stall and home produce for the cake stall.  Come along on the day to visit SANTA and pick up some fantastic festive Christmas gifts.

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Bank Holiday Monday saw Maria Magee, Beatrice O Callaghan, Paddy O Brien & Triona Woodroofe share 1st place for North/South whilst Brid Clancy, Phil Power, Seamus Kennedy & Pauric Gleeson shared 3rd.  Winners on the night for East/West were Catherine Halligan & Bridie Nolan, 2nd Catherine McGillycuddy & Nancy O Brien and 3rd Kay Plunkett & John Loscher.

002 BRIDGE CLUB

1st place on Friday 1st November for North/South were Maura gaskin & Seamus Kennedy, 2nd Monica Brady & June Digby and 3rd Ger Lenihan & Kitty Heslin.  East/West winners were Mararet Bolger & Noeleen Redmond, 2nd Marion Davis &Teresa Leahy and 3rd Phil Kenna & Liz Belton.

LOTTO

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot last week.  The numbers drawn were, 3, 8, 13 & 17. There were eight match three winners Bridie Gilvary, Phyllis McMahon, T.J. Ferguson, Conny, Marie Phelan, Gina Vickers, Tina Kavanagh, Richie Cullen, Carol Broaders, Mark Massey & B Synnott.  Next week’s jackpot will be €16,300.

MARKET

Roundwood Market continues with the usual produce and new hours. Now open every Sunday from 12 noon until 4pm. New members welcome. Contact Jacinta 0860722851

 ROUNDWOOD DANCE

There will be a dance in Roundwood Parish Centre on Friday 15th November with music by John Flood.  All are welcome

SET DANCING

Our weekly set dancing sessions continue in Kavanagh’s Lounge on Thursday nights.  All are always welcome – whether you have ever or never danced before  Session starts at 8.30 til 10.30 and cost is still only €5 for a goodnight of exercise.

ROUNDWOOD CANCER SUPPORT

The Roundwood Cancer Support centre is now up and running and is open in the Parish Centre on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10a.m until 1pm & they are currently looking for volunteers if you could spare some time in your week it would be greatly appreciated.  Please feel free to pop in for a chat we will be happy to help.  If anyone needs to make any enquiries outside these hours please telephone our confidential phone number 087 6062072

A 45 Card Game takes place every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community Centre starting at a new time of 8pm for the winter months beginning on the 30th October  Teas served. All are welcome
