Roundwood Notes ~ 2nd of December

HISTORICAL SOCIETY DINNER

CHRISTMAS SALE OF WORK

The Sale of Work committee would like to say a big thank you to all those who helped in any way with the great success of last Sundays Sale of work.  To the many people who came along and supported on the day to all the people who donated, to the many sponsors & to those who helped out on the day, too many to mention.  The results of the draws were as follows:-  €1,000 Claire Salley; €300 Caoimhe Cashin; €250 V. Cake by Leo Hynes & Meat Voucher: Eithne Kavanagh. Arya Mahmoudzaden guessed the name of the dog, Monica Brady guessed the weight of the cake and Lloyd Malynn guessed how many sweets in the jar.  The floral arrangements were won by Eddie Cullen, Barry Cunningham & Kevin O’Connor.  The G.A.A. Raffle results: €40 voucher was won by Aoife Brady the Bag and Hat was won by Lauren Heatley & the t-shirt was won by John Brady.  The results of the progressive 45 were 1st Seamus Gaskin & Tom Bowan, Joint 2nd: Ger Lenihan & Paddy Halligan, Fintan & Brian Fanning, Brendan Byrne & Leslie Carstairs.  Last Game Anthony Halligan & Joe Ward.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

The switching on of the Christmas lights will take place on Sat 7th Dec after the 6.30pm Mass (7.30pm approx) at the old school. There will be mulled wine and mince pies after so do come along and join in the festivities

 PILGRIMAGE TO MEDJUGORJE

There will be a pilgrimage to Medjugorje on 15th October, 2014 at a cost of €619.  Early booking offers of €150 discount if paid in full by 12th December, €100 discount if paid in full by 3rd February, 2014.  For further information please contact Mary King at  087 2185067

The results of the whist in aid of the Senior Citizens is as follows:- Top Score: Patricia Byrne, Top Gent: Joe Coleman & Lucy Molloy (shared) Top Lady: Monica Brady; Second Lady : Kitty Kennedy; First Half: Martin Byrne; Second Half: May Kenna, Lowest Score: Molly Byrne and Longest Sitting: Maura McHugh & Ann Gaffney (shared) .  Raffle prizes were won by Kitty Kennedy, Ann Pierce, Pat Fisher, Mary Pierce & Mary Cullen.  Next whist is on Wednesday 11th December.

MONEYSTOWN DANCE

Moneystown dance  the Wicklow man  will play in Moneystown community centre on Friday December 13th from 9.30 till 12.   Teas served, refreshments available, door prizes, mince pies. Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing, jive, etc.

 LUNCH CLUB

The next Roundwood Active Retirement lunch will take place in Byrne and Woods at 1:30pm on Friday the 13th of December.

FUN BINGO

The Roundwood Active Retirement fun bingo will take place in Roundwood Parish Hall and Centre at 3pm on Sunday the 8th of December. Family members and friends are more than welcome to attend. €5 per book and great raffle prizes. Come along and enjoy.

The Roundwood 2014 Calendar is now for sale at Justine’s, The Roundwood Inn, The Sunday Market in the Parish Hall

FOOD COLLECTION

Cross Care will hold a collection of non-perishable food in both Roundwood and Moneystown churches over the next three weeks.  Donations can be left in the church porch before or after mass each week or in the parish centre during the week, Monday to Friday before 12 noon.  The following non-perishable items are urgently needed pasta, rice, fruit juice, tea, coffee, soup, sugar, powdered milk, tinned meat/fish, tinned fruit/veg, packaged desserts, biscuits and hygiene produces (e.g. nappies, toilet rolls, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shower gels shampoo etc).  Thank you all for your generous support last weekend – even one item from each household each week will make a huge difference to families in need.

 DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Rachel Judd and Molly Byrne played their cards right for North/South on Monday 25th November, 2nd Pamela Byrne and Clare Sally, 3rd Catherine McGillycuddy and  Bridie Nolan , 4th Gertie Fee and Monica Brady.   East/West winners were Teresa Leahy and Marian Davis, 2nd Maura Gaskin and Margaret Byrne, 3rd Mary Pierce and Kay Plunkett and 4th Ger Lenihan and Paddy O Brien.  The Club and Triona would like to wish Gaye a speedy recovery and look forward to her return in the very near future.

O2 BRIDGE CLUB

Paddy and Nancy O Brien were Friday morning winners for North/South, 2nd Rowena Brady and Maria Magee, 3rd Gertie Fee and Mary Pierce and 4th Kay Plunkett and Mary Murphy.   Margaret Bolger repeated her victory of last week this time partnered by Ger Lenihan   2nd for East West were Molly Byrne and Rachel Judd, 3rd Bridie Nolan and Maura Gaskin and 4th Jim McNamara and Liz Belton.  Members please note Christmas Prize giving will be on Friday 13th December

ROUNDWOOD DANCE

On December 20th with music is by the Wicklow Man in The Parish Centre, Roundwood in aid of the Roundwood Active Retirement.

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no winner of last week’s lotto. The numbers drawn were 3, 7, 8 & 12. There were nine match three winners, Anthony McDonald, Sabastan Anghel, Lei, Olivia Quigley, L.J.K Coleman, Rosie Graham, Lorcan Murtagh, B.Timmons & Ellen McCormack. Next weeks jackpot will be €15,500.
