Notification of road closure
Irish Water, working in partnership with Wicklow County Council, is carrying out
pipeline installation works as part of the Vartry Water Supply Project – Varty to
Callowhill Link in the Knockfadda area. Roadbridge is working on behalf of Irish Water
to deliver this project.
Irish Water would like to inform you that Roadbridge, intends to close a short section
of the R764 at Knockfadda Crossroads and a 70m section of the L50721 at
The road closure period granted by Wicklow County Council for the R764 (closure 1)
extends from 8:00am on Wednesday 21 March to 08:00am on Monday 26 March 2018.
The road closure period granted by Wicklow County Council for the L50721 (closure
2) extends from 8:00am on Wednesday 21 March to 08:00am on Friday 20 April 2018.
Local access on the L-50721 will be maintained throughout the road closures. Traffic
diversions will be in place and clearly sign-posted for the period of the road closures.
The diversion route for the R764 road closure (closure 1) is as follows:
Travelling from Roundwood, use the R764, then turn right onto L1076. Turn left onto
the R763 and then left onto the L5072, you will rejoin the R764 at Ballyduff
Travelling from Ashford, use the R764 and turn left onto the L5072 at Ballyduff
Crossroads. Turn right onto R763 and then right onto the L1076, which will rejoin the
The diversion route for the L50721 road closure (closure 2) is as follows:
The same diversion as for the R764 Closure 1 will apply until 26th March, when
Knockfadda Crossroads is reopened.
From 26th March, access to L-50721 will be via Ballyduff Crossroads and the L-5072.
