On Saturday morning, 30th of July a range of events take place for all age groups and energy levels!
9.00am Hill-walk: Glendalough via The Spinc and Lugduff to Glenmalure
You may have seen another route advertised but the final route chosen for the walk will be from Glendalough via The Spinc and Lugduff finishing at Glenmalure (approx. 4 hours).
Please sign-in for the walk at Kavanagh’s Vartry House at 9.00am.
Walkers will be transferred by bus (leaving at 9.15am) to the start of the walk at Glendalough. The walk will take approx. 4 hours. The bus will transfer walkers back to Roundwood from Glenmalure.
You need to pre-register for this walk (so we know numbers for the bus). Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the name(s) and a contact phone number to save your place(s) on the walk and we will then email you the information needed for the walk. There is a cost of €5 for taking part in the walk. The money raised from the walk is used to fund the organisation of the festival. Gerry O’Toole is providing the bus transfer for the walk free of charge – thanks Gerry!
Registration on the morning of the walk takes place at Kavanagh’s Vartry House at 9.00am. The bus will leave from there at 9.15am. The bus will return you to Kavanagh’s where, hopefully, the sun will be shining and you can quench your thirst after the walk in the beer garden.
10:30am Teddy Bear’s Picnic
This is a free event being organised for the kids. Pack up your basket full of picnic goodies, picnic mat and the kids with their favourite teddy bear(s) and meet at 10:30am at Aras an Tochar. Lots of fun activities for teddy bears and their owners. A parent or guardian must remain with your child throughout this event.
11am Historical Walk ~ Glendalough House Estate
It is extremely fitting this centenary year that our Festival ramble should take place in the grounds of Glendalough Estate near Annamoe which is closely associated with the Childers and Barton families. Once again members of the Roundwood and District Historic and Folklore Society will be our expert guides on the day. Please meet at Aras an Tochar at 11am for car pooling to allow for ease of access to the Glendalough Estate. There will be a charge of €5 for this event with proceeds being used to cover the cost of organising the Festival.
