There’s lots for all members of the family to do at the Roundwood Festival starting from the 28th of July and running into the August bank holiday weekend. Here’s a flavour of some of the activities that the children might enjoy!

Thursday, 28th of July
Family Fun Challenge 6.30pm at Arás and Tóchar

Grab four members of your family (there must be one adult, one male, one female and at least two kids aged 8 or more) and see how you fare on the whacky obstacle course custom designed by Janine. Race against another local family to see who will make the grand final. A fantastic trophy goes to the winning family!

Also on the night there’s the chin up challenge for the young & not so young as well as the arm wrestling competition for adults!

Saturday, 30th of July
10.30am Teddy Bear’s Picnic.  This is a free event being organised for the kids.  Pack up your picnic goodies, bring along the kids and their favourite teddy bear(s) to Aras an Tochar (Roundwood GAA Club) at 10:30am. Lots of fun and games are guaranteed for teddies & their owners. Parent or guardian must remain with children at all times.

Make a scarecrow
Enter your family scarecrow in the scarecrow competition.  Please phone John on 086-8225705 if you need straw to make your scarecrow.  John has some of the 2015 entries in storage. So if you want to remodel your 2015 creation give him a call! Bring your scarecrow into the village on Sunday and display it. The winner will be picked from those on display in the village during the Sunday Street Festival on 31st of July.

Sunday, 31st of July  2.00pm – 6.00pm
There are plenty of distractions organised for the kids on Sunday at the Festival. In the field opposite Centra the kids can enjoy  the bungee run, obstacle courses, toddler area, giant jenga, face painting, nail art, bottle fishing,  pets corner and much more. There is also arts and craft stuff for them to do in the Parish Hall from 2pm to 6pm.
