SALE OF WORK – GREAT SUCCESS

A great crowd gathered for the annual Roundwood Parish Sale of Work.  There were all the usual attractions such as Wheel of Fortune, Bottle Stall, Flower Arrangements and Christmas Decorations, Homemade goodies, White Elephant Stall, Bouncy Castle, Roulette, Pancakes, Photos, Games Raffles and a queue formed to visit Santa who was busy giving the children their presents.  The results of the Big Draw were as follows:- €500: Billy Brady; €250; Dorothy P. FERNANDO COUNTRY BAND

The Fernando Country Band was put together to fill a large gap in the Irish and Country Scene.  All of the band members have been chosen for their ability and commitment to fulfil this dream.  Lead vocalist is a native of Wexford and has been singing with showbands for as many years as he can remember.  Keyboards Jim from Antrim is a multi-talented man.  A pure Country and Showband sound provider, adding all the frills and great sounds to the band.  Guitar and Vcals Paddy is another Wexford man who is a fine performer and adds drive and rhythm to the band.  This is music you can dance to and is band for all occasions and will be in Vartry House on Friday 8th December at 9pm.  Come along and enjoy.

 

JUSTINE’S RE-OPENING

Justine will be re-opening her shop on tomorrow Friday 8th December in her new premises beside The Village Take-away and all her friends and customers would like to wish her every success. 

 

CAROLS IN CALARY 2006

The final Calary music event for 2006 will be our annual Carol Service, which takes place on Thursday 21st December, commencing at 7.30 pm.  We are delighted to welcome Sheila Cleary, who is organist at our neighbouring church in Kilmacanogue, and who will accompany us in a number of well known carols.  The Carol Service will also feature the Ottoni Brass Ensemble – five talented young musicians, some of whom also play in the National Symphony Orchestra. They will perform some pieces and will also accompany us in the carols.  The Ottoni Brass Ensemble is made up of:- Jane Hilliard (trumpet); Charlie Cavanagh (trumpet); Enda Collins (french horn); Rossa O’Neill (trombone);Gavin Warren (tuba).  We hope that you will be able to join us in our celebration and also in a cup of tea or coffee and mince pies after the Carol Service.  This event is kindly sponsored by Wicklow County Council.  As usual, Calary Parish will be making donations to The Fields of Life in Uganda, the work of Sister Mary Killeen in Kenya and Wicklow Hospice.

The results of the whist in aid of the Senior Citizens is as follows:- Top Score: Mary Carr; Top Lady: Biddy O’Connor; Second Lady: Maureen Gaffney; Top Gent Anne Gaffney & Jimmy Molloy (shared); First Half: Nuala Coleman; Second Half: Betty Byrne; Longest Sitting: Kay Plunkett; Lowest Score: May Kenna; Raffle prizes were won by Kitty Kennedy; Nuala Coleman; Mary Carr & Maureen Gaffney.

 

WEDDING BELLS

Congratulations to Nicki Keeley & Aiden Doyle who were married in St. Laurence O’Toole Church Roundwood on Friday the 1st December last.  We wish them all the best for the future.

 

CLOTHES SALE FOR CHERNOBYL CHILDREN

The Greenhouse collection are holding a clothes sale next Saturday 9th December at the Bridge Tavern, Wicklow.  Doors open at 12 midday until 7pm.  Proceeds to the Chernoybl Children.  Do come along and do some of your Christmas chopping and while supporting a good cause.

 

BIATHLON

Come along and join us on Wednesday 27th December next.  This is a great fun day for all the family and all monies raised goes to Cancer and Leukaemia research.  Refresments in Vartry House after.  Sponsor cards available from Noel at 2818259 or Ellen at 01 2818179.  Walkers start off at 1.45pm and bi-athlon at 2pm.

AN TÓCHAR GAA

Please note the club AGM now takes place on Tuesday next, 12th December, at 8pm in the Club Lounge.  As this is a very important meeting could all club members please attend.  Turkey drives will continue on Thursday nights and Sunday nights until Christmas and all you card players are invited to come along.  Congratulations to Joan Monaghan who matched three numbers in the club lotto last week.  This weeks jackpot is worth €12,200, well worth winning

 

LOTTO

There was no winner in last weeks lotto draw.  The numbers drawn were.3, 12, 19 & 26.  There were six match four winners, L Murphy, T cullen, Sean Byrne, Aoife Cosgrave, C & J Campion & Trisha & Austin.  Next weeks jackpot will be €5,600
