Local Notes ~ 10th of March 2020

IRISH NIGHT

There will be an Irish night in the Parish Hall on Saturday 14th March
for St Patrick’s weekend starting at 7pm. A great night of singing,
story telling, céili and set dancing and lots of music for all the
family. Everyone is invited to show off been Irish.

FAMILY FUN TABLE QUIZ!

Stagebratz Starz are hosting a Family Fun Table Quiz and Monster
Raffle on March 28th at 2pm in Lynham’s Hotel Laragh. A fun-filled
afternoon of quizzing, spot prizes and a performance from our Starz.
Table Quiz open to all ages. There are fabulous prizes available in
our Monster Raffle(including €100 vouchers for The Bord Gais Theatre
and Seafield Hotel & Spa) lines on sale from members of Stagebratz,
Keith Grant Butchers and The Green Room

STORYTELLING

The story house is on Friday 13th March at 8 o’clock in Annamoe
Centre. All are welcome.

ROUNDWOOD & DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY TALK

A talk on the History of Roundwood Ploughing Association, by John Byrne of Knockatemple will take place on Monday 30th March at 8 pm, in Kavanagh’s Lounge (Vartry House).  Adm:  Member – €3, non-members €5.

MONEYSTOWN NATIONAL SCHOOL FUNDRAISER

On March 20th, Roundwood GAA Complex will be transformed in to a Cinema like you have never seen before! In an effort to raise funds for Moneystown National School, the parents and staff will be cycling to power the movie-screen while the children enjoy watching The Lion King (2019)! All families are very welcome to come along for an evening of fun and entertainment. Tickets are €5 and will be available at the door. Your support would be greatly appreciated. 

PLOUGHING MATCH

Roundwood Ploughing Society is now holding their annual ploughing
match on Saturday the 21st March 2020

COMHALTAS IRISH MUSIC

Learn traditional Irish music and dance with an award-winning
Comhaltas branch (guitar, fiddle, flute, tin whistle and grúpa ceoil).
Classes are held at 7 pm on Tuesday nights in St. Laurence O’Toole
N.S., Roundwood – the second term runs from January to May.
Performances, workshops and outings take place throughout the year.

East/West were Brid Clancy & Gertie Fee, 2nd Paddy O Brien & Seamus

002 BRIDGE CLUB

Molly Byrne & Rachel Judd were the victors for North/South on Friday
6th March, 2nd Maura Gaskin & Bridie Nolan, 3rd Catherine McGillycuddy
& Nancy O Brien & 4th Judy Skates & Maria Magee. 1st for East/West
were Kitty Heslin & Jim McNamara, 2nd Kay Plunkett & John Loscher ,
3rd Liz Belton & Phil Kenna & 4th Gertie Fee & Jane Cronin. All
members please note there will be no bridge on Friday 13th March due
to Confirmation in Roundwood.

ROUNDWOOD DANCE

The Wicklow Man will play in Roundwood Parish Centre on Friday 13th,
2020. All are welcome to come along and enjoy a night of dancing.

KNOCK PILGRIMAGE

There will be a pilgrimage to Knock on Saturday 25th April leaving
Laragh at 7.45am & Roundwood at 8a.m The cost is €70 per person which
includes bus, breakfast & dinner in Tyrrells Pass Castle. All monies
to be paid in full before 1st April, 2010 to Susan at 087 6273032

ROAD TO ROUNDWOOD

A local group is being set up to give a helping hand to those
displaced in one of the world’s largest humanitarian crisis of our
time. The Syrian Civil War has resulted in 11 million displaced
Syrians. The Road to Roundwood is a community sponsorship project
which will help a family integrate into our community in Roundwood
rather than enter direct provision. If you feel you would like to
support this project a fundraising coffee afternoon will take place in Roundwood Parish Hall on Sunday 15th of March from 12 noon to 4pm. As well as coffee, tea and cake there will be Face Painting and Jewellery Making for the kids, Irish Dancing performances, Live Music and a selection of Local Crafts.

BADMINTON

Badminton continues on Tuesday mornings from 9.30a.m. All are welcome.

LADIES FITNESS CLASSES

Ladies Fitness classes. are at 7.15pm every Tuesday and Thursday in
the parish hall and are open to ladies of all ages and abilities. The
classes are five euro drop-in classes. Anyone interested can call me

WHIST RESULTS

The next whist will be on tonight Wednesday the 11th March in the Parish Centre.

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no jackpot winner in last weeks draw. The numbers chosen
were 5, 16, 212 & 23. There were two match three winners, Sharon
McCann & John Doyle Next weeks jackpot will be €21,100.

JENNY’S PRESCHOOL

Jenny’s pre -school Moneystown is now enrolling for September 2020 and
2021 Anyone interested in taking up a place can call into the school

WALKING GROUP

Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group are back in action meeting at 7pm
this Wednesday at the Coach House car park. All welcome to walk at
your own pace for approximately one hour.

SET DANCING

Our weekly set dancing sessions continue in Kavanagh’s Lounge on
Thursday nights. All are always welcome – whether you have ever or
never danced before Session starts at 8.30 til 10.30 and cost is
still only €5 for a goodnight of exercise.

ROUNDWOOD CANCER SUPPORT

The Roundwood Cancer Support centre is now up and running and is open
in the Parish Centre on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10a.m
until 1pm & they are currently looking for volunteers if you could
spare some time in your week it would be greatly appreciated. Please
feel free to pop in for a chat we will be happy to help. If anyone
needs to make any enquiries outside these hours please telephone our

45 CARD GAME

A 45 Card Game takes place every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community
Centre starting at a new time of 8pm for the winter months Teas
served. All are welcome

MEDJUGORJE

A pilgrimage To Medjugorje will take place on October 7th 2020 for
seven days at a cost of €679.00 fully inclusive There will be a
discount of €100 if paid in full by December 13th otherwise €200.00
deposit secures booking. This trip will be accompanied by a Spiritual
