MEN’S SHED

We were delighted to welcome Edward Humphrey recently. Edward is the coordinator for the sheds in the county and we found his visit to be really worthwhile. One of the members brought along his lady friend and she also received a very warm welcome. Poppy is a black labrador – no racism in our shed! Hopefully she will be back to visit us again soon. She hopped into her owners vehicle before departing and her owner commented that all his lady friends are well trained.   We are planning to have an open evening soon to see our shed within a shed. Adding up all our ages we can truthfully say that we have over 1000 years experience. So you will never be stuck for an answer. All will be assured of a warm welcome. If it’s a fine evening, you may even be invited to do a bit of weeding in the vegetable garden, which is getting greener by the day. Tuesdays from 10 to 12 are the official shed hours at the moment.  We are improving our kitchen facilities so if anyone out there has unwanted wall or floor units we will be delighted to take them off your hands and give them a good home.  Call 086 8650588 for any further information.

MUSIC IN CALARY

It will incorporate works by Shostakovich, Beethoven and Schubert alongside pieces composed by the Duke’s own father, Garret Wellesley, who was the first professor of music at Trinity College.  As this concert is being held to raise much needed funds to support Sister Mary Killeen’s work for street children in the slums of Nairobi, there is the option of a supper in the Church Room before the concert starts. So come along to the Green at Vartry Heights in Roundwood on Sunday 11th of June from 2pm with your picnic basket, blanket, etc. or treat yourself to a delicious burger from the BBQ.
