GLENDALOUGH VACANCY

St. Kevin’s Parish, Glendalough have a vacancy for a parish secretary on a part time basis at 15 hours per week.  Application and cv should be send to Fr. ROUNDWOOD CALENDAR

The Roundwood Calendar 2016 is available for sale in Roundwood Post Office, at the Roundwood Home Producers Market and in other local outlets. The calendar contains photographs of the local area by local people. It is printed by Ross Print in Greystones. It’s a true Wicklow production so do shop local this Christmas. It’s a lovely present for friends and family.

CHRISTMAS FOOD APPEAL

We appeal to your generosity for NON PERISHABLE FOODS – tins or packets of any type, toiletries for adults, children & babies, including baby clothes (which must be new) and nappies.  Items may be left in the boxes provided in the porch in Roundwood Church on Saturday evening or Sunday morning and Moneystown Church on Sunday morning on the following dates, 19th & 20th December.  In anticipation of your kindness and generosity and for taking the time to read this, thank you.

ROUNDWOOD HOME PRODUCERS MARKET

We wish to inform our customers that the market will close on Sunday, December 20th at 3pm.  We will re-open on Sunday March 20th, 2016.  12-5pm.  New members always welcome. Thank you for all your support during the year.  Wishing you a merry Christmas and our best wishes for 2016.

ART CLASSES

Kildare Wicklow VEC is seeking applications from community and volunteer groups who wish to organise classes in the community. A number of people have expressed an interest in Art Classes in Roundwood, however a minimum number of participants is required. CHARITY FOOTBALL MATCH

The community of Roundwood are coming together for a under 30s v over 30s charity football match with all proceeds going to the Jack and Jill foundation on the 30th December in Enniskerry Youths Club and afterwards to the Coach House Lounge at 6pm for presentation, refreshments and music.  All donations accepted on the day. CHRISTMAS LUNCH

The Active Retirement Christmas Lunch is on Friday December 18th at 1.30 pm in the Roundwood Inn.  We have been instructed by headquarters that the Active Retirement membership fee of €12 is due by January 1st.  Please pay this subscription on the day of the lunch.

ROUNDWOOD DANCE

The monthly Dance will be held on Friday December 18th with dancing to The Wicklow Man  from 9 p.m. till late. Refreshments  served on the night, Come along and enjoy a night of festive fun !!!! All are welcome

CALARY CAROL SERVICE

The Calary Candlelight Carol Service will take place at 7 pm on Sunday 20 December and will be followed by refreshments in the Church Room. We would be delighted to see any of our friends and neighbours who would like to come and join us

LOTTO RESULTS

There was no jackpot in last week’s draw.  The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 6 & 19.  There were seven match three winners Trevor Tynan, Robert & Judy, Ticket 952, Sarah Hayes, Kathleen Halligan, Corey Byrne & Martin.  Next week’s jackpot will be €18,800

MATHS LESSONS

Rebecca Delamere is teaching group Maths lessons on a weekly basis in the Parish Hall in Roundwood for secondary school students.  Class sizes are very small and there are classes at different levels.  These lessons provide support for students who may be struggling with Maths in school, support for students who are aiming for high grades and also prepare students for their Maths exams.  If you would like to register your interest for the new term starting in January, please contact Rebecca on 086 0650129 or rebeccadelameremathslessons@outlook.ie.

DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Monica Brady and Brid Clancy took 1st place in the final league competition before Christmas, Judy Skates and Joan Shortt were 2nd, Molly  Byrne and Rachel Judd were 3rd and Ger Lenihan and Paddy O Brien were 4th.   Victors for East/West were Catherine McGillycuddy and her partner Phil Power Teresa Leahy and Marion Davis were 2nd, Nancy O Brien and Bridie Nolan were 3rd and 4th place went to Pauric  Gleeson and Seamus Kennedy.

002 BRIDGE CLUB

June Digby and Monica Brady continued their sucessfull run by taking 1st place once again for North/South 2nd Noeleen Redmond and Margaret Bolger, 3rd Rowena Brady and Maria Magee and 4th Liz Belton and Philomena Kenna.   Playing their cards right for East/West were Nancy O Brien and Catherine McGillycuddy just ahead of Nancys husband  Paddy and his partner Ger Lenihan, 3rd Rachel Judd and Molly Byrne and 4th Kitty Heslin and Anne Kennedy.   All members please note presentation of Christmas  Prizes will be on Friday 18th December

MONEYSTOWN DANCE

The Wicklow Man will play in Moneystown Community Centre on Friday 8th January from 9.30 pm till 12.  Teas served, mince pies, door prizes, refreshments also available. Come along and enjoy a night of waltzing, jive, etc. Moneystown Community Centre would like to thank all our supporters and wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

SALE OF WORK ~ RAFFLE RESULTS

Roundwood & Moneystown Parish had a great turn out for their Christmas Sale of Work last Sunday.  A big crowd turned out for this great event.  A big thank you must go to the organising committee who did such a brilliant job and Santa was a big hit on the day for the little children.  The results of the big raffle on the day were as follows:- €1,000: Oscar & Luka Nolan; One night stay in Tinakilly House: Adele Fennell; €100: Pat Carr; Pilates Voucher: Ann Payne; Fran Byrne Voucher: Gavin Kavanagh; Wicklow Heather Voucher: Jason Giffney; Mountain Breeze Voucher: Annie O’Reilly; Dunnes Stores Voucher: Tony Casserly; Sugar Mountain Voucher: Mary Power; Centra Voucher: Mairtin; Terry’s Butchers Voucher: Margaret O’Toole; Roundwood Vet Voucher: John McHugh; Turkey: Ella Cunningham; Keeleys Voucher: Phil Roche; Byrne & Woods Voucher: A & M Hall; Grange Kitchen Voucher: Mairtin; Roundwood Chemist Hamper: Josie Goodwin.  1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th prize of Flower Arrangements went to Margaret Malone, Molly Byrne, John Malone & Mary Pierce.  Moneystown Hampers were won by Breda Salley & Liz Byrne.  Guessing the sweets in the jar, which were 112, went to Ann Kennedy.  Mary Cullen, Main Street guessed the weight of the cake at 11 pounds 1 ounce.  Ciara Jackson guessed the name of penguin.  Margaret Malone won the Christmas cake, John Lowe a meat voucher & Ned Halpin won a turkey.  Congratulations to all the winners

SPEZET MEETING

Roundwood is twinned with a town in Brittany called Spezet. A group from their Breton Pipe Band stayed with families in Roundwood for a week in 2014. A meeting for anyone interested in travelling to Spezet in 2016 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the twinning initiative with Roundwood will take place at 7:30pm on Monday 14th of December in Roundwood Old School. All welcome.

ANNAMOE CENTRE

Our Story telling night is on the 11th of December at 8pm.  All are welcome.  Women/Men shed every Wednesday from 10:30am  Fun Bingo Sunday the 29th of November at 3pm
